Obama in WV tomorrow! It's NOT over, Obama is still campaigning hard for popular vote
On Friday night, I submitted this as a comment to the Obama campaign:

Please, Obama campaign, don't believe the media hype. It is not over. The Obama campaign has been smart and thorough and consistent for months on end -- that cannot stop now.

Senator Obama must continue to campaign vigorously to win the Popular Vote! Senator Clinton certainly is. She thinks it could win her the nomination. She might be right. If Clinton wins the popular vote, there will certainly be a fight at the convention.

My congresswoman, Lynn Woolsey, has endorsed Senator Clinton but says she will cast her vote at the convention for the winner of the popular vote, excluding Michigan.

It is very, very important that Obama continue to "Win Big, Lose Small" in the six remaining contests. Including Puerto Rico, which has 2 million voters and holds its primary on June 1.

Obama has not yet opened an office in Puerto Rico. This could be a grievous error, resulting in a fight on the convention floor, if Clinton wins by a 400,000+ vote margin and thus wins the total popular vote.

Keep your eye on the Prize! There are 6 more contests for the Democratic nomination. All are important. Only after Obama has won the popular vote is the nomination securely Senator Obama's.

I then followed up with a plea for Obama to visit West Virginia, since it had been announced in the press he was turning his attention to the GE.

Senator Obama, Please go to West Virginia!

Show some faith in the good people of WV. Clinton's recent 'hard-working white Americans' comments are insulting to all of us. It's time for Obama to court WV voters. Ask for their votes. For a better America.

It has been reported that Senator Obama has begun focusing on the fall campaign, and will be traveling to Florida -- but NOT West Virginia. I feel this is a serious mistake.

Yesterday, it was announced that Obama will be holding a rally at the Charleston, WV Civic Center at noon tomorrow.

Cool. I'm very pleased.

1. The Puerto Rico votes will be counted...
And Hillary plans on winning Puerto Rico by a large margin. And, you are correct, she plans on winning the popular vote as an argument that she is the strongest candidate.

West Virginians in person.

I like to see him there, in the face of a powerful lead in WV by his opponent, asking for the voters' consideration of his quest for the White House.

This is how it is done.

3. Well, Obama's supporters on DU have been worse than that for a long time.
White Americans do work hard, just so you know.

A running theme of the Obama campaign, especially here, has been to make his race a litmus test and you know it.

Let's not have the pot calling the kettle black.

Oops, I can't say that around you, can I?

6. Wow, you seem over-the-top angry.
No one has claimed that white Americans don't work hard. I think the point has been that Americans of all races work hard.

I don't believe that Hillary intended to suggest that only white Americans work hard. I do think she intended to suggest that those hardworking white Americans won't vote for Obama.

I disagree with her and I think it was in poor taste to make that statement.

Hope you feel better.

7. Settle down. I would bet the vast majority of DUers consider themselves to be hardworking and I
would bet the vast majority of DU members are white.

11. Hey Shenmue, my oh my, such hostility (frustration?). By the way, I know a lot of white people who
DON'T work hard. (I'm white, in case you're wondering.) So let's cut the sweeping generalizations, like the one in your post.

Also, there's no "litmus test" with this Obama supporter. But it would be great to have a fairly progressive candidate to face off against McCain, and it would be wonderful to have an Africa-American president and first lady who are open-minded, smart and able to represent the United States with the dignity we deserve -- after eight years of humiliation.

8. Glad to hear it!
I did not want him to "write off" WVA. He should do a big rally at WVU, too, IMO.

I always thought Obama should go to all the primary states to get to know the voters and they to get to know him.

17. Obama will win the popular vote excluding Michigan
Including Michigan, it might be tough, but as long as it doesn't include Michigan, we're fine.
