"Republican money won't corrupt Nader" - zealous Naderite
Edited on Wed Aug-04-04 01:12 AM by George_Bonanza
This pretty much sums up the illogical debate I'm currently having with a die-hard Naderite. Note that I say Naderite and not a die-hard Green Party supporter. He thinks that Cobb is a sellout for being even remotely ABB. He thinks that the way for Greens to go is to pour all their efforts and resources into high profile presidential campaigns to spread awareness.

I argued that Nader has done a terrible thing in placing his campaign on the rock of cynically motivated Republican support, something a man like Kerry would never do. He rebutted with an incredibly stupid and naive statement of saying how Nader wouldn't let it corrupt him, as if corruption is like being uncool on the school playground. Hello, basing your campaign on leftist ideals while being funded by extreme rightists and purposely hurting the campaign of a fellow leftist is already being corrupt. This guy reminds me of hardcore Reagan supporters who were willing to overlook Iran-Contra because it was for the "greater good". It's eerily similar. What's the word on Cobb? I don't know much about this guy, but I like his thinking. His idea of building from the bottom is well thought out, unlike Nader's glitzy suicide runs that do nothing but sully third party causes in America.

The guy I'm talking about is from a teen forum, you know, those mentally-stunted sites of extreme social darwinists, uber communists, Christian fundies, and Gothic Wiccans? What really pisses me off about this guy is that he's only a kid and he talks about letting America burn for four more years to pave the way for a Naderesque future. Stupid little sh*t, sitting in his comfy house that his mommy and daddy bought for him while real people out there are suffering from one of the worst presidents in history, just for his ill-gotten extreme leftist beliefs he probably came to by stupid rebellion or because of listening to Anti-Flag and Rage Against The Machine one day and thought it'd be cool to be an extreme because moderation is uncool... Sorry, had to get that off my chest.

1. Yeah -- he was already corrupted BEFORE he got GOP money
Nader doesn't have a clue about how to build a true third party alternative to the major parties. The fact that he does not even belong to a third party himself, and isn't seeking the nomination (just the endorsement) of any third party is proof of that.

The ONLY thing Nader wants to do is keep Kerry from winning. Because in Nader's view, it is necessary to destroy the Democratic Party in order to create a left-wing alternative to the Bush Republican Party. But one doesn't follow from the other. For one thing, even Nader can't "destroy" the Democratic Party. He can only make it weaker than it already is. So the future Nader promises is one of unchalleneged Republican domination.

In fairness to kids, it's not just them that's like this.

3. He's not for real
Edited on Wed Aug-04-04 01:26 AM by bluestateguy
First of all, if he's under 18, why bother with a non-voter? I would bet you that he's not for real. If he's a teen it's probably just a phase. By the time he's out of college, he'll be all about the corporate rat race.

You just proved the point I have made for years about the Naderities: usually a bunch of overindulged, overeducated, spoiled white suburbanities who are looking for a little excitement to add to their blase bourgeoise lives. So they pretend to "identify" with the working classes by supporting a Leftist fraud like Nader--not realizing that hardly any real working people are going to vote Green or Nader--and they get to feel good about themselves. And if Bush wins? Hey, they're not the ones who have to suffer in a Bush Administration. In fact, they'll get a nice tax cut.

4. What can I say
Naderites are stupid and are trapped in a cult of personality...those left in it either are people that wouldn't vote for Kerry anyways or freaks that are drinkin a LOT of koolaid.
