Oh my, Hillary has one strong West Virginia accent!

Was just watching MSNBC (Tweety) and he showed a clip of Hillary speaking to her supporters. The drawl was so thick that I must congratulate her voice coach.

She came across sounding like Scarlett's Black maid from Gone With the Wind.

It's pretty common to change speech patterns depending on the audience - Obama certainly does it. I'd wager most politicians do.

saying, "We needed to redraft it anyway, the paper was old..."

I don't know if I've heard Obama pick up a regional accent, but it's not uncommon to do. I know I've done it when visiting family in the south, or even when I spent a summer in the U.K. Some people just pick up accents.

It's just an attack on me for no good reason. The fact is, Obama does it, too. Most politicians do. How is me pointing that out defending a low-blow from clinton? That's not rational.

The only thing that matters is the PERCEPTION that she is insincere.

This crystallizes my point all along about Clinton and her campaign. They have a horrible problem with hearing the truth, handling constructive criticism, and adjusting - even over MINOR issues like speaking with an accent or not. THAT was the main pitfall of her campaign.

When people started telling her that they don't like the negativity all she had to do was tweak her message, change her delivery, choose her words better. Instead, she refused to adjust and just turned up the volume.

More recently they received feedback to knock it off with the racial comments. She might not be a racist, but she is giving MANY people the perception that she is. She is offending a lot of people. Not enemies. Not Obama operatives. VOTERS.

People tried to tell them at many different points that their message was coming off wrong. But in their world, any criticism means you're an enemy of Hillary. They're not the enemy! They're just the messenger!

It's as if dissent is not tolerated. If they had listened to any feedback at any point along the way and made SLIGHT adjustments, things WOULD have been different. I'm sure of it.

I don't get it. Why ignore criticism and refuse to adjust? You gotta know that won't work.

I've said throughout this primary season that I'm sitting pretty, because I like both candidates. I think either one will make a strong candidate, and a great president.

How is that wagering my soul? By preferring one to the other and defending her against what I consider to be unfair attacks? That's ridiculous.

Hillary takes these speech pattern changes to an entirely new level. Most people try to do it subtly, but Hillary does it so over the top it's hilarious. I love that one clip of her in the South when she's saying, "I'm not tired yet." LOL! Snake oil chameleon! :rofl:

I think it is just a thing people sometimes do. I know I do it sometimes and I don't even realize it. I think Hillary takes it over the top sometimes though ("I ain't no ways tired.")

I remember the right wing lunatics being in a tizzy when Al Gore would get fired up speaking in black churches. And heck, I speak quite a bit differently at work than I do when I'm not at work.

It's human nature, not pandering. If it were forced - maybe - but considering that Clinton's spent a lot of time in Arkansas, I doubt that it was.
