On the Defensive Cheney and other top Republicans attack Dean
At a campign stop in Lee's Summit Missouri Cheney attacked Dean.

``This just tells me Howard Dean doesn't know anything about how these groups operate,'' Cheney said... He said Dean was wrong to suggest that ``somehow this is being hyped for political reasons.''

"The Washington Post and the New York Times reported that the warnings were prompted by the discovery of al-Qaeda surveillance documents that were up to three years old. Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge said the information was detailed and had been updated in January."

And, here is what Pataki said: "I think Howard Dean is an embarrassment. I mean, he almost makes Michael Moore look objective in how he analyzes these situations. And the American people got to know him during the campaign and rejected him."

Damn, they really are scared aren't they. This is great, Dean has them on the defensive. And, Reuters has been headlining that 'Credibility Cloud Hangs Over U.S. Terror Warnings'. Did anyone think that Dean's attacks would have turned out so positively, I sure didn't. They have been bringing out everybody to try to defend their terror alert, they have brought out the NY City mayor, the Gov of NY, Ridge, Cheney, and tonight they will bring Laura Bush on Lou Dobbs to defend the terror warnings from the likes of Dean. Never have they been on the defensive like this on "terrorism" their so called strongest issue, which is a great sign for us.

They haven't been on the defensive against someone like this since Clarke.

1. Dean is coming up in studio with Anderson Cooper.
Cooper is sounding like he is not backing down at all. CNN.

2. Reuters is not a broadcast/cable outfit
...so it doesn't matter what they say.

3. I love it!
And I think the dems are telling Dean et al to lay it on the bushcos. I hope some trial lawyers get involved in attacking the idiots. And Wes Clark and Al Sharpton. They do a wonderful job. Carter does too in a more low key way, but his words count big time, I think.

4. If they were just upfront about some of the things

and are ferreted out later (or leaked, I presume) it would mitigate the reactions like this. You'd think they would have learned by now.

Why is it they continue to operate in a way that impairs their own credibility.

Are they just dense about it or are they so obsessively secretive that they can't stop even when there's nothing to gain or the loss compromises it.

5. Sounds like them...
Kerry is beating them in the polls, so they attack Dean, a different Democrat.

And back in September, 01, a group of Terrorists murdered 3000 people, so they attacked Iraq, a different group of Arabs.

Republican logic 101.

8. Something Bush doesn't know.
On NPR this morning an Iraqi said: Give me the choice of being "free" and seeing my sister walk down the street in a mini skirt, and having Saddam back, I would choose Saddam. That is something Bush does not understand. We may not understand it either. But we had better take it into account.

12. He found our sexual obsessions intolerable.
If Western "freedom" means mini-skirted women (and all that goes with it), he would rather live in an Arabic Muslim dictatorship. And he was entirely sincere.
