WTF? Mika Brez. saying "Barack Hussein Obama"
this morning on MSNBC. Just wondering why all of a sudden she started saying his middle name? I haven't been sitting here and watching all morning, but I did hear her say it twice (I don't know how many I've missed).

Just sayin'... :wtf:

27. I heard it this morning . . .
I thought it was odd.
Then she said that her father had come out for Obama early (Jan. I think),
and that she has 1 brother who is working for Obama and 1 who is working for McCain.

39. What happened between Matthews and Mika? I turned on the TV just at the end
of some kind of argument where he was chastizing her about continuing to promote the Primary.. it was just prior to the segment where she said Barack Hussein Obama. Matthews looked really pissed. The other stations seem to be in GE mode.

At the event in Houston, we couldn't take in any homemade signs. Not that it's probably the same everywhere, but these things are regulated in some manner, I'd imagine...

The other, more professional one, I do wonder about that because there's no way to roll that sign up and scrawl a hasty message on it once you're in, like the pink one above. You just can't hide that on the way in. I would hope that Hillary's campaign people there might have grabbed the more obvious sign when they saw it because it really makes THEM look bad, never mind the unfair implications. I don't think that kind of thing would have been tolerated at the rally I went to for Obama and I saw no such smears there. It's just disappointing, to put it mildly. :\

I watched the entire show, I really don't know how people jumped to the conclusions they did...she certainly doesn't come across as a republican, but hey, that's just my opinion.

46. Try Paying Attention.
Barrack Hussein Obama IS his name. He has acknowledged it. He'd been telling the "Black kid with the funny name" story for well over a year. Even as recently as last week. He ties it into his "only in America is my story even possible" message. Pay attention.

Oh, and "Barry" shouldn't be derogatory to him either. He'd gone almost exclusively by that nickname into his college days. But hey, if it makes his detractors feel better trying to latch on to something--anything--that's negative, then whatever...

felt it was not said in any negative way. I think that it is actually time to say his name out loud and take away the "OMG stigma" away and present it as an honorable name (which it is) and it is time to treat it as such. Say it....Barack Hussein Obama!! It has been my observation that when u have a winner in a presidential race, u sometimes first know it when the media begins to use all three of that persons name...JFK as the first example that i remember.

13. When I heard her say it - it wasn't being used in a negative way.
She was pointing out how unimaginable it must have been for the clinton's to be beat by a man from no where with the name, BHO, who happens to be half-black. The entire conversation centered around the Clinton's inability to gracefully exit, their lack of coattails, and their misguided assumption of entitlement to the WH. Honestly, it wasn't at all a flattering discussion for Clinton, and more or less lifted Obama up.

which i clearly stated in my post. it is indicitive of media and what any dem will be going up against. it is a much bigger issue than clinton winning or obama losing. for a dem to pretend they dont get why media and repugs do it is counterproductive to having media being responsible in the manipulations of our elections.

this is much bigger than a battle between dem candidates.

28. I don't think people are embarrassed by it...
...but we've all read the "Obama is a Muslim" e-mails going around...and there is still a significant portion of the population that believe he is. Therefore, when his middle name get mentioned...there seems to be a bit more weight behind it as if his middle name is a bad thing, just because it is the same name of a former enemy. And the repubes have been using it with glee....Mark Levin says it EVERY time he says Obama's name...and says it with such nastiness it's scary. More fear tactics.

My argument is this...why is his middle name the ONLY one that has been used this ENTIRE campaign! As of this moment...I STILL do NOT have any idea what Hillary's middle name is...OR John McCain's. Now, I know that I could remedy this by looking it up...but I purposely have remained ignorant of what their middle names are...so as to see if anyone in the media would EVER tell me....guess what? I still don't know.

...in about a year, when you look at those U. S. Presidents historical charts, you be able to scroll down to the end, see Obama's air-brushed face and read below: "Barrack Hussein Obama, Jr. -- 44th President (2009- )." Pretty cool, huh? ;)

The middle name doesn't bother me at all. I'm sure it doesn't bother him, and it shouldn't bother you. Now if his detractors want to try to make hay over it, and make themselves look like idiots, well then that'll just have to be their problem, won't it?

55. Not a big deal if you listen to the context
Yes, she used his middle name, and so did Chris Matthews. However, in context, they were using it to suggest what a huge surprise this long primary season has been. On one hand you have a virtually unknown black man named Barack Hussein Obama who took down the biggest name in Dem politics. On the other side you have McCain who's campaign was essentially left for dead this past summer. I didn't find it offensive the way they were using it if you listened to the entire broadcast where they used it (only a few times over a span of a few minutes).
