For all the West Virginians who've been dealing with slams against WV all day: a story from LA

I was listening to KFI radio in Los Angeles today. The drive time hosts (John and Ken) were discussing the NY Times article about Obama and the racism his campaign workers were experiencing. They took callers from their usual crowd. One of these genius callers said he was not going to vote for "Barak Hussein Obama" because he was Muslim. The hosts pointed out that Obama had been a member of Jeremy Wright's Christian church for 20 years. Undaunted, the caller said "Well, he's a closet Muslim." When the hosts asked why he believed that, the caller told them that the "Muslims down at Frye's electronics" had told him that if Obama's father was a Muslim, he was a Muslim, unless his father renounced Islam. This was why he wouldn't vote for Obama.

So hey, West VA, whenever they go after your state, tell them this lovely story.

But to focus on the "insult" to a state, rather than the disturbing racism and woeful ignorance that is displayed by all too many of our citizens, from all over the country, is really missing the point. West Virginia will get over it, and so will Los Angeles.
