Obama's Cabinet: I want Biden for SecState, Edwards for AG...
Joe Biden DESERVES the Secretary of State job. He's a fucking natural at it. He's got the best strategic mind on foreign policy in the Senate.

And the Justice department is in Shambles. It truly needs a solid, inspirational leader who has his heart in the right place. John Edwards is the Attorney General in my Obama administration.

Make sense?

Who you got for Defense Secretary? Clark is my pick. He would be a natural here.

Who you got for HHS? If we want Health Care reform to be real, this secretary job will be critical.

EPA?

Others?

2. Clark is ineligible for Secty. of Defense
He hasn't been out of the military for 10 years.

I agree with Biden and Edwards, though.

3. Bummer. How 'bout National Security Advisor then?
He really should be on our national security team.

7. I agree
and that would work. I wanted him for Defense, too, but learned way back from someone on DU that he was ineligible.

5. Interior is waaay beneath Al's pay grade
He's gotta be international focus - global climate, not administer the national park service!

6. I agree. Big Al is bigger than a Cabinet position. But Dept Interior...
is pretty darn critical, as is the EPA.

12. I don't think Gore is so concerned about jokeying for position or status now....
If he could be coaxed to get off his Laureate (heh) and serve his country again, I don't think it would be the stature of the position that would draw him, but rather what he could do in the position that would draw him.

I've heard him say he wouldn't run for office again, but not that he wouldn't accept a cabinet post. I believe y'all if you say he's said it, though.

24. I'm not so much for "Czar" positions....
because we have the Departments already, and "Czar" positions are usually formed because the existing Departments aren't doing their jobs. When that is the case, adding yet another layer of paralyzing bureaucracy isn't moving in the right direction.

I say, fix the Departments we have first and then, if necessary, once they are functioning properly, THEN consider a "Czar."

But, if there's going to be a Czar, I think it would be great for Gore to take the position.

Just have to say that it is much more relaxing to discuss Obama appointments in this folder...
than to deal with grieving, disappointed Hillary supporters who are, understandably, a little reactive right now, in other folders.

10. Here are a few
State: Biden (if not elected VP) or Bob Graham. Or... Hillary?
AG: Until 2 months ago, I would have said Eliot Spitzer. Now? Who knows. This job is too small for John Edwards, I'm afraid.
Treasury: Michael Bloomberg
Defense: Bob Graham (if not SecState) or Chuck Hagel
HUD: Shirley Franklin - this is a great job for a big-city mayor.
Interior: Gov. Tony Knowles (if not elected to the Senate)
Homeland Security: Hagel
Agriculture: Any Governor or Congressperson with an extra-special hardon for Monsanto.

15. Biden should have Reid's job, be in charge of the senate
Don't pull any established senators or congress critters from their positions, use their seniority and experiences (and frustrations) for the good of the nation.

Richardson Secretary of State

Edwards Attorney General

18. I think Biden's strong suit is Foriegn Policy, not counting votes...we're still smarting from...
losing Tom Daschle. We need someone like that for the post. I would be fine with Hillary there, for instance...

21. Oh hell no
Tell me what major piece of legislation has hillary really worked on while in the senate.

She is too young a senator for that job - Biden needs to be in charge of the senate and put smart people over the right committees while he remains on the foreign relation committee and the homeland security committee.

Those are vital jobs and they key members with experience holding them, they are not just political positions, don't ever sell short what those folks have done and can do, the importance of their jobs.

and he has a record of instituting health care as a gov.

25. Edwards as AG?
I don't think so. We need someone with the skills and the cajones to clean up the mess Bush will leave us with.

Plus I think Edwards would be better suited at a different post. He'll be better off at HUD secretary, HHS secretary, or Labor secretary, though I'm not sure which one can be used to fight poverty the most efficiently.
