Obama Makes the Top 25 Fittest Men - Men's Fitness Magazine @ 5
Edited on Sat May-17-08 02:26 PM by Ichingcarpenter
They're running for president, chasing Olympic gold, and cavorting with lions. They're acting, dropping rhymes, and cooking up healthy dishes. They're ballers, badasses, and one of them is even Bond. Whether in business, boxing, or on the big screen, each of these guys rule in and out of the gym.

1. Tiger Woods
2. Wladimir Klitschko, 32 - The Boxer
3. Curtis Stone, 32 - The Chef
4. Flo Rida, 28 - The Rapper

# 5. Barack Obama, Age 46 - The Candidate
It takes a certain stamina to endure months of 16-hour days in pursuit of the land's highest office.
Obama is not the first politician dedicated to fitness, but the Illinois senator starts every day
with a morning workout, whether it's machines at the hotel gym or a brisk 45-minute run.

He's also quit smoking. Obama can be excused for enjoying the occasional state-fair corn dog
because he mostly stays away from fatty foods. He's also, as we've seen, a bit of a baller.
Nicknamed "Barry O'Bomber" for his jump shot, the former high school hoopster now
releases stress during pickup games-including one on every primary day.

"He's wiry-looking but actually pretty strong," former Duke player and Obama staffer
Reggie Love has said. "And he hates losing. He plays hard." Now that we know.

I'll take the Stones' "Get Off of My Cloud" over McCain's version of "Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran" anytime.

11. That's ridiculous. And where's Jerry Rice?
He's just a year younger than Barack, and he still trains like he did when he played in the NFL.

Which even then was recognized as the toughest training ever. They couldn't even find a couple guys in their 50s and 60s?

Well, they know their demographics. But it's kind of a joke.

13. Now, that's just INSANE. The guy was, until very recently, a SMOKER.
He's stil "on the gum."

He "looks" fit. That doesn't make him fit.

If he is one of the "top 25" then this country has health care problems in a major way.

Yes, he sets a good example ... NOW. But that's just goofy, that list.

Let's see Clinton or McCain do this? What, we elect our president based on their fucking jump shot?

Let's see Obama give birth, then, or spend five and a half years with broken bones getting tortured brutally by the North Vietnamese, eh?

If this is how we make our choices, we really ARE fucked.

Nothing wrong with touting his prowess, but why shit on others to make a point?

THAT is the refuge of the immature.

And if pointing that out is "crapping," well, you've got a curious definition of the term.

It goes against that "politics of hope" shit that the BO types talk about all the time.

Yet that is all I see. No hope, just ridicule, snark, put-downs and rudeness.

So call me "not fun." I really don't mind. This is an election, not a contest to determine who is the most fun of the bunch.

What I'm doing is calling it like I and many others see it. You don't uplift by way of denigration.

28. oh, it's gotten better recently
there aren't nearly as many knuckleheads sayings "Obama" very close to the words "white voters" etc. etc.

and there aren't the arguments that Barack isn't really black (like there were back in January, before his opponents decided it was useful that he is black :eyes:...)

and there are relatively few posts calling him "Barry" now (from his opponents).

so it's getting better, yeah, somewhat.

34. Yeah, just a load of insulting posts about Clinton, and hypersensitive people
who ignore those, yet start whining posts about people who call Senator Obama "Barry."

And even whine about it in the MIDDLE of a thread! Gee, this is your life's work, all of a sudden. How very pathetic for you.

You may call that better, I call it pretty fucking situational. And the exodus is telling. These sockpuppets won't be around after November.

46. I've been here since this place started. I wasn't in a position to post
though.

You might ask "Why did HE lose us?" I was prepared to like him, initially, but the more I learned, the less I liked.

The gay baiting with McClurkin and Caldwell (spiritual advisor to GWB), the willingness, indeed, eagerness to use grandma who raised him as an example of a racist while defending a minister who then goes out of his way to retaliate ...these are character matters. You don't pull GRANDMA into ANYTHING. That's just .... SHITTY.

Those are just two examples, of many, but to me they are among the most disturbing.

Why would those ministers, with that specific homophobic agenda, be so eager to help this guy? Why was his own minister, two decades into their relationship, be so eager to SCREW the guy?

I don't really want an answer. I already know the pre-prepped speil from the YES WE CAN crowd. But these are bothersome questions to me. This isn't like exaggerating a story for "campaign" effect, be it about sniper fire or being a lost toughie snorting coke, or being dramatic about experiences in "the hood" after being raised in beautiful Hawaii, because that crap is unimportant-- this is about PERSONAL relationships. And most importantly, family relationships. How he can call the woman who raised him, who sacrificed to bring him up, a "racist" to excuse the behavior of a guy who turned around and FUCKED him says a lot about what he's willing to do to make a point. And how well he judges his so-called friends. And how easily he can shame his old grandma without blinking an eye.

It's just another brick in the wall to me.

51. you might start by not assuming that ALL of us Obama supporters are a bunch of dopes
you know what I think in answer to your question?

Obama's a politician, he's not a savior. As for experience, compared to many other candidates, yes he has less, but compared to Hillary's experience in elected office, he has as much. She has a lot of experience as her husband's political advisor, but I don't know how to judge that experience, because I don't know what that advice was (well just a few nuggets from a few books), so how can I know that her political experience and judgement as First Lady of US and Arkansas is better than Obama's? Well, I've looked and I haven't found it.

The case that she was loads more experienced and seasoned at making political decisions than Obama just wasn't made. So, when I had to decide between the two, I saw two politicians about equal on balance, but one with a hell of an ability to communicate and a novel approach to running his campaign.

And the other thing...he never savaged her the way she savaged him and he's winning despite that. I think negative campaigning is overrated --I think Hillary knows that, but only learned it this week.

52. Well, I didn't say that. At all. I didn't even infer it.
So I guess if you're starting out with a totally bullshit take on what I DID say, there really is no point in continuing this discussion. You start with an untruth, and continue on down that road. No conversation of any consequence is possible when you pull "facts" out of thin air to make your points.

If Obama were still smoking you can believe a hilary would have concernedly gotten that message out.

There was a poster here(went out for pizza and never returned)who use to get her kicks posting a photoshop of Obama with a cig hanging out of his mouth.
