Somebody PLEASE say something - anything - in Lieberman's favor.
He can't possibly win, and he is doing the MOST harm of any of the candidates. Clark, Kerry and Gerhard look like angels next to Lieberman's viciousness. Shame on him.

And I mean that sincerely.

And my dog regularly licks itself in public (yes, I Bush used to do that to, before his handlers stopped it).

11. Joe is marginally better in terms of women and gay rights
We would still have the bloody war in Iraq with over 10,000 dead and countless wounded.

Joe is to Bush what Agnew was to Nixon.

A political party is either in opposition or in coalition with the government, otherwise it is nothing more than a social club.

19. But everybody can see that, can't they?
You can only blast for so long, until people start to look closely at you...and draw their own conclusions.

Here are the only 2 things I can think of that are in his favor:

1) He's Joe "The Jester". After reading all the hundreds of threads here about all of his antics, he really is a great comedy relief. I've laughed my way down many "Lieberman" threads. Too funny.

2) I've stated that I believe he's on the Rat-publican payroll. I jokingly said that the Ream-publicans asked him to hang in there as long as possibly (even though it's humiliating). The plan is to divert a few votes from the leading candidate. It won't be many; maybe a few thousand, but they've promised to pay him 50 cents for each diverted vote.

20. He's strong on foreign policy.
Edited on Sun Jan-04-04 12:53 PM by philosophie_en_rose
Before someone throws a brick at me, I want to say that he's not RIGHT about foreign policy.

However, because he's virtually the same as Bush on foreign issues, Bush can't really make the war an issue. Pres. Lieberman would presumably do the same things.

Domestic policy becomes the issue of contention and, despite some DINO qualities, Lieberman really is socially liberal.

Lieberman is a better human being than Bush. He will not sell our country to Halliburton. Is he the best candidate? I don't believe so. But he has good intentions. I don't want him to win the nomination, but if he's the candidate, I'll vote for him.

-- for me, but I'd like to synthesize his temperament and personality and inject it into all supervisors and bosses in the world.

He'd be a lot easier to work for than a few of the bosses I've had.

But I ain't votin' for 'im.

43. To be fair
It was started in EXACTLY THE SAME terms as this one. I should know, I cut and pasted the original post in this thread and put Dean's name where Lieberman's appears in the original post here. This thread has now been open for two hours. That one lasted less than an hour. I alerted on this one when that one was locked ... about 15-20 minutes ago. Still waiting.

Three hours since the original post in this thread.

Over an hour and a half since this post (http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=132&topic_id=60331#60595 ) locked an identical thread about Dean. Over an hour since an alert was sent on the original post in this thread, pointing out that an identical thread about Dean had been locked and asking for consistency.
