Tales From The Dark Side
I was over at lucianne.com doing some "opposition research" and am here to bring back this little pearl of widsom.....

Some right wing hack wrote a op ed piece how he can just feel that Chimpy is going to win...

Anyway here's a conservative pearl of widsom... First DUer to identify the lapse in logic gets to take a bubble bath with Lucianne Goldberg -:) or if it's a female DUer gets to take a bubble bath with her handsome and virile son, Jonah....

"I remember the polls showing Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan in a virtual tie the week prior to the election. Just as Reagan blew out Carter so will Bush against Kerry."

3. What A Dope
I wonder if she realized the obvious non sequitar....

Actually Jimmy Carter hung around till the end and even had a nice little lead at one time in the waning days of the campaign before the bottom fell out....

Pat Cadell, Jimmy Carter's pollster at the time attributed it to the fact that Carter performed poorly in the debates and the realization that the hostages weren't coming home sank in....

5. Exactly...
I don't know how to cut and paste or I'd copy that thread...

They had to close it because a war broke out between those who thought Chimpy could lose and those who thought Chimpy was invulnerable....

7. There are people who think he's invulnerable???
Believing he can win is one thing, but thinking he's a shoo-in is loony tunes.

4. Too easy
Carter was the incumbent. When incumbents run it's all about them.

Except for Woodrow Wilson in 1916, incumbents almost never win close races.

Undecideds typically end up voting for the challenger. They just need him to close the deal, and since they don't pay attention to the campaign until late October, they don't commit until the very end.

As in 1980, a clear majority of people think the country to be on the wrong track, which is always doom for the incumbent.

Bush, of course can still win because he has the presidency and the government and a greater ability to master and control events than John Kerry does. What I'm trying to say gently here is that he has an even greater institutional advantage and ability to steal the election than he did in 2000.

I'll pass on the bubble bath.

6. I Think That's A Good Theme For A Commercial...
Have a negative/positive ad which research shows works the best....

Identify a problem caused by the incumbent and offer a solution.....

Have men in the street interviews where ordinary folks say the country is on the wrong track and how we lost respect in the world and then have Kerry talk about his program to fix it....
