I think that is just amazing. Congratulations to a state that gets a turnout like that.

I think many in that state support Clinton, and they were loving McAuliffe's speech.....until he said that Hillary was leading in the popular vote. Oooops...that did not go over well.

McAuliff shouted down at Colorado Democratic Convention

McAuliffe, Hillary Clinton’s campaign chair, spoke to a crowd of about 10,000 at the Colorado Democratic Convention in Colorado Springs May 17, but it wasn’t long before his speech was interrupted by the overwhelming chants of a raucous crowd.

Things were going smoothly for McAuliffe at first as he praised Clinton and said, “It’s time for a woman to be president,” but the crowd erupted into its loudest shouts match of the day when McAuliffe claimed that Clinton currently holds the lead the popular vote.

McAuliffe seemed to revel in the uproar he caused when he stated that, according to the current popular vote, Clinton had roughly 17 million votes to Obama’s 16 million. These numbers could only have been reached by including the Florida and Michigan votes.

Even then, the numbers seem inaccurate. Including Michigan and Florida, Clinton has 15.1 million to Obama's 15 million. Without Michigan and Florida, Obama has 14.4 million to Clinton's 13.9 million. Neither total includes the caucus states, which voted overwhelmingly in favor of Obama.

Puzzled, or perhaps angered, by his statements, Obama supporters chanted, “O-BAMA, O-BAMA,” for about two minutes before McAuliffe could be heard shouting “I love your enthusiasm!” into the microphone.

He was good-natured about it, though. He really needs to work on his figures, though.

Controlled chaos at the convention

Although Obama won the statewide democratic caucus 66.6 percent to 32.3 percent on Feb. 5, support for Clinton seemed quite strong during McAuliffe’s speech.

It became clear that Obama had the greater support, however, when Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano took the stage to speak for Obama and was greeted with a deafening roar.

Ten thousand, an amazing number for Democrats in Colorado.

:applause:

I'm amazed that 10,000 showed up being from Colorado.

That is amazing, I remember one in the 90s I went to and I think like 1800
showed up if even that.

So I have no problem with it. Good for the Obama supporters who set him straight. She does not lead in the popular vote unless you completely skew the numbers, giving Obama 0 votes from Michigan AND discounting 4 caucus states.

87. And most of that news they hear is just talking points
You're right, that if they lie enough, people will believe it. They know it and are using it against them. Shoot, we see it here in DU!

What angers me is the fact that they are lying. Historicall, one of the big differences between us and the GOP is we - the Democrats - believe in the truth. Let the facts speak for themselves. To see a Democratic candidate and the Democratic supporters of that candidate outright fabricate or stretch the truth is disheartening, and goes against what was once a strong Democratic virtue.

How can we trust a president to be honest and forthright if they practice deception beforehand? We can't. Compare the 2000 and 2004 campaigns against the horrible reality we've been living in.

How can the world, who are watching this election cycle, trust America when they see how a leader deceives the voters? If they are intellectually dishonest to Americans, how would a world leader view and place trust in their words?

89. Oh, please
There are a lot of VERY good Democrats who are active in the DLC. Janet Napolitano, Kathleen Sebelius, and soon-to-be-governor of Delaware Jack Markell are three that come readily to mind. They fight like hell for their constituents and for the best values of the Democratic Party. This silly notion that the DLC is a massive conspiracy is downright ludicrous to those of us who have actually participated in DLC conferences and workshops.

That is, unless you consider wonky workshops about performance-based budgeting, technology policy, and financial literacy for inner city residents to be the stuff of nefarious right wing plots...

78. Doesn't mean we should accept the lie - moreover, that
it becomes important that we declaim the liar.

Hillary Clinton has demonstrated a remarkable flexibility with truth throughout her campaign.

Everyone lies, and leaders lie for many reasons.

But to lie when it is not necessary to do so, represents to me a flawed moral center.

In other words, she lies far too easily for my taste - and for no good reason.

The past politician of whom she most reminds me is Richard Nixon.

Saying she has 17 million to his 16 million is the same kind of rounding that made Pennsylvania a "double digit win".

Including both MI and FL, Obama has 16,680,827 or 47.6% while Clinton has 16,710,298 or 47.7%.

That excludes IA,WA, ME,and NV. estimates added to the total = 17,014,911 for Obama and 16,934,160 for Clinton.

That also assumes that caucus representation equates to primary representation.

So, even using the invalid yard stick, including invalid elections while doing so, Obama still leads by over 80,000.

"MAYFIELD, KY -- Saying the region had a “special place” in the heart of the Clinton family, Hillary Clinton told a large crowd here that she’s waging this campaign for people like them, not the pundits on TV.

“There were some folks who didn’t want Kentucky to vote,” she said. “There are some folks, you can see them on TV every night, who wanted it to be over for me after Iowa. And every time they say it, something funny happens. The voters don’t agree.”

She said these talking heads are “talking at us instead of with us,” and that they don’t have as much at stake in the election.

“I would bet every single one of those folks, they’ve got a job; we can see that. They’ve got good health care; we know that. They can pay whatever the charge is at the gas pump most likely. They can send their child to college. I’m not running to represent them, I’m running to fight for you and to be your champion.”

Clinton also repeated that she is "leading in the popular vote" -- although that claim is based only on when you add the votes she gained from the contests in Florida and Michigan, and Obama's name wasn't even on the ballot in the latter race.

"And the states that I have won are states a Democrat has to win if we are going to be elected in the fall," she said. "People ask me all the time: 'Why, why are you continuing to fight on?' Well, because I’ve got more votes. Because I believe I’d be the best president. And I believe I’m the stronger candidate to defeat Sen. McCain."

71. You can
Bet your ass that if the shoe were on the other foot she wouldn't give a shit about Kentucky. Now she's using Karl Roves math. Yes it's true Karl Rove says Hillary is the stronger candidate. Hillary said so herself. She is pathetic. I like probably many of you never ever thought we would be saying all this about the Clintons. I don't know how any Hillary supporter can't see this for what it is. She is USING YOU! It's like if you don't agree with me I'm taking all my votes and going home. NAAA!

46. I dont get it.
The only way I can figure to get Hillary ahead is to count just the primaries, including MI and FL, and then count ONLY states(leave out DC's votes). And probably leaving out the empty primaries(WA, NE, ID) as well. You have to leave out DC, because if you count all the primaries, no caucuses, Obama is still 63k ahead.

DC is worth 63k lead on its own for obama, DA 7k, NE 3k, WA 13k. All Primaries, but ones that are left out to give Hillary a supposed lead.

Can anyone help me with this? What am I missing that would give Hillary a popular vote lead without ignoring DC?

47. They are leaving out some caucus states, I think, and not sure what else.
They are counting MI and FL for Hillary. Their New Math is amazing.

72. Some caucuses don't report a "popular vote" is my understanding. So....
Hillary's camp is leaving out those no-popular-vote caucus states (which Obama won), and she is counting MI and FL (incl. the early voting, which was done in December 2007, I think...before many people even knew who Obama was).

I haven't checked her "math," and I don't know anyone else who has (except Rove, if that tells you anything). It can't really be counted, because all the states simply do not report a "popular vote" count.

60. Maybe the hecklers should also protest RealClearPolitics.com?
The numbers speak for themselves, and are available online for all to see.

If you include the votes in all the States that have released numbers, including Florida and Michigan, Hillary Clinton has around 27,000 more votes than Barack Obama.

66. There is NO way to include Michigan, because no way to award "uncomitted"
Also, numbers don't include caucus states, AND despite all that 27,000 is way different than 1 million.

Terry is a lying sack of shit.

Popular vote? What the hell is that? In Washingtonthestate for exampled how do you figure the number of popular votes. There was a primary that didn't count and caucuses. Tell me how you figure the "popular vote".

Besides THE POPULAR VOTE COUNT DOESN'T MEAN SHIT.

On Edit: Have a nice day

70. The popular vote has nothing to do with choosing the nominee.
She is playing to voters who don't know any better...that's shameful.

73. Sadam Hussein also walked away with Iraq's popular vote
As a matter of fact, the parallel with Hillary's Michigan landslide is quite astounding:

Saddam: 100%
Hillary: 100%

Don't you just love "fair" elections? Good, Now rack 'em up, and while yer at it, don't forget to lose them dad-blasted caucus votes. HEY, WE WON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

90. Kick for Hillary's ability to catapult the propaganda.
There is no media here disputing her, no one seems to understand that we do not choose our nominee by popular vote.

Florida has fallen for her spin.
