Somebody PLEASE say something - anything - in Dean's favor.
He can't possibly win, and he is doing the MOST harm of any of the candidates. Clark, Kerry and Gerhard look like angels next to Dean's viciousness. Shame on him.

The sooner this is locked, the sooner my point will have been made. But, for the record, the subject line is anything but misleading. Anyone who is paying the least bit of attention can see what it refers to.

What great commentary, your OP. Dean and Lieberman are just the same!

If you think I didn't know what this thread was about, you're mistaken. I am just believe that if you think something is wrong, you don't engage in it, even to make a point.

10. He was the first to have the courage to speak for the majority of
Democrats concerning their opposition to the war. After Gore dropped out, I felt like Dean was the only one talking that I was willing to listen too.

In the end, it was the Gore endorsement that sealed my current non-support for Dean.

For a while, he was a welcome voice in the wilderness, however.

12. Dean is surging against President Bush in the CNN/Time poll, only 5% back!
Edited on Sun Jan-04-04 01:24 PM by Dems Will Win
I know they are hiding this poll as best they can on the CNN and Time Web sites but it is being trumpeted at http://www.buzzflash.com and on http://www.pollingreport.com.

It's Bush 51, Dean 46!!!!!!!!

Last CNN poll, after Saddam, Bush 60, Dean 37.

DEAN SURGE of 9 points, Bush loss of 9! This poll of 604 likely voters is 10 months before the election!!!!!!

How can you say he can't win??? Reagan was 30 points behind Carter at this point in 1980 and he thumped him.

Dean is going to beat Bush like a drum.

By the way, Dean was probably ahead of Bush in that same poll! They switched from releasing registered voter numbers (more liberal) to LIKELY VOTERS (more conservative). The Registered Voter poll is typically 4 to 7 points more Democratic so Dean could be tied or very close or even ahead of Bush AND THEY DID NOT RELEASE THOSE #s, just the likelys!!

NEED A BUSHECTOMY?? CALL DR. DEAN!

15. Trippi Trippi Trippi. Great campaign manager. Dean at 2% but for Trippi

anti-war position. Before Trippi "hit Dean over the head" and told him
he needed to be jump on the war-protest bandwagon to capture the
activist movement, Dean was all over the map on what his views were and was stuck at 2%.

where are President's Ted Kennedy (80), Dick Gephard (88), and Jerry Brown (92). Trippi worked in all those campaigns.

17. Dean defends the Constitution.
Lieberman, Gephardt and Kerry would rather disregard the Constitution. I don't know how Clark is on this. Read this article and tell me what you think about your angels. How far we have fallen, even since WWII.

<snip>
Howard Dean then said that he was old-fashioned and he didn't think you could judge or punish Osama bin Laden until you had a trial and found him guilty.

Suddenly, politicians and the news industry shouted, What are you talking about innocent until found guilty? How can this man Dean say that bin Laden deserves a trial? They said that this was a perfect illustration of Dean talking without thought. And completely un-American, too.

In 1945, they had the Nuremburg trials for Nazis who had killed tens and tens of millions, and had judges, witnesses, evidence and defense counsels. Just the other week, one of the Democratic candidates, Wesley Clark, testified in the Hague at the trial of Slobodan Milosevic of Yugoslavia.

Yet Joseph Lieberman, who is a peripheral candidate now and thus a nasty little man, said that because he relies on the Constitution, Dean is a weakling who would melt in the face of George Bush.

26. W/O Dean there would have been nothing except cheerleading 4 Bush.
Kucinich excepted. Without Dean the primary process would have been : 'I'm like Bush. I support the war. Go troops. I'm more like Bush than Bush is. I support the tax cuts. I like to bomb, too. I would have bombed MORE countries than Bush.

Dean '04...He changed it all.

27. Dean's message is resonating. He is Clintonesque in his charisma.
He is running the best Democratic campaign in the history of our nation. Some of his detractors don't understand what it takes to run a decent campaign, and therefore are running their own campaigns into the ground by trying to tear down Dean's instead of building their own up.

36. Locking......
1. If you start a thread in the General Discussion forum, you must present your opinion in a manner that is not inflammatory, which respects differences in opinion, and which is likely to lead to respectful discussion rather than flaming. Some examples of things which should generally be avoided are: unnecessarily hot rhetoric, nicknames for prominent Democrats or their supporters, broad-brush statements about groups of people, single-sentence "drive-by" thread topics, etc.
