Fellow 'Obamatrons' - Do You *Dare* Take The Pledge?
Edited on Mon May-19-08 09:44 PM by MannyGoldstein
WHEREAS Barack Obama is certainly the Democratic nominee for President, and

whereas battling with Clinton supporters on DU will not change our Party's nominee, and

whereas battling with Clinton supporters will simply piss them off, and thus increase the odds that they won't vote for Obama, or will vote for McCain

I do pledge, for the next 3 days, to:

1. Not post anything negative about Hillary Clinton, even if it's simply a link to a news story
2. Not post anything that points to the superiority of Obama over Clinton. e.g., latest polls
3. Simply not respond to anti-Obama posts, or posts pointing to the superiority of Clinton over Obama

At the end of three days, I'll see if this is working for me and adjust as necessary.

7. If they're threatening to vote for McCain because of something said on DU, they were never going to
vote for Obama under ANY circumstances.

They're trolls. Any "Democrat" threatening to vote for McCain is too far gone already. That's a Dem that never had any intention of voting for Obama.

In short.... it's not a Dem at all.

These hangers-on are in their last death throes. We'll never hear from them again in DU after Hillary officially concedes.

59. Really? Because I've been here longer than you have
And I'll still be here long after you've gone to Obama Underground. This is still DEMOCRATIC Underground. And for the record, I'll support the Democratic nominee. Period. I don't have to like who it is, and I don't have to be optimistic about his chances (yes, I said "his" because it seems clear that it will be Obama).

But what disturbs me is that what you're saying is that anyone "left" here who still supports Hillary is a troll? You ought to be tombstoned for that. But unlike the O-bots, we don't have masturbatory celebration threads when one of you gets the granite cookie.

I don't appreciate being called a troll.

They are grasping at straws... telling us to go easy on them in the same breath they scream "IT'S NOT OVER". If it's not over, then prepare for a battle. I'm taking nothing for granted and the only thing that can stop us Obamabots from the nomination now is COMPLACENCY. You think they aren't going to try every dirty, slimy trick in the book to try to take him down? I don't know about the rest of Obama supporters on this board, but I'm staying vigilant.

19. For every anti-Obama post you don't respond to, I'll respond to three.
All absurdities aside, it's a nice thought, but the internets simply don't work that way. There are hyperpartisans who simply won't quit bashing the other guy no matter what. And while everyone would love to see the other side disarm, nobody seems that interested in telling their own side to knock it off when they act up. And finally, nobody is particularly interested in hanging around a web board in which their candidate (and their candidate's supporters) are the subject of constant attacks, and in which they can't offer the remotest defense.

Edited on Mon May-19-08 10:19 PM by crankychatter
So all I see is the pro Obama threads and frankly...

I don't see anything inflammatory or over the top, whatsoever.

Some folks, in individual posts DO get a bit cranky.

I think the facts are damning enough. I don't know why anyone would vote for her. I don't know why anyone would believe her on ANY issues. She has little credibility and what she has, diminishes more every year. I'm not talking about Tuzla, either.

Ya'all already know the points.

I'm just here to track on events and occasionally ventilate... or throw in my two cents.

I can't see a reason to "take a pledge," personally.

They say whatever the FUCK they want... true or not... with NO regard for the General Election.

I couldn't care less about there goddamn fake sensitivities.

Given time to properly campaign we could have the biggest landslide in US History.

Instead we get to risk another four years of insanity....

If our candidate loses, I will blame Clinton and every last one of her fucking supporters.

36. Man, This is one Depressing Thread
Cripes people, will it kill you to show a little grace and magnanimity here? We Obama supporters can now be all but certain that our chosen candidate will win--just how bloody hard is it to be gracious in victory? Put yourselves in a Hillary supporter's shoes: it must be a crushing disappointment for them to see Senator Clinton on the brink of losing the nomination, especially given just how long this race has gone on. And does anyone think that alienating Clinton supporters is going to help Obama defeat McCain in November?

I hereby take Manny's pledge, and I'll adhere to it for far longer than three days.

Robert

37. Assholes are Assholes are Assholes.
Bottom line? 1 out of 16. That is all Campaign Obama has to lose from the Clinton Camp to lose the election.

Now if you people just want to keep living on "Hopes and Dreams" that's your perogative; but you have some serious assholes to reign in.

This particular forum is running better than 75% Clinton hit pieces, most of them covered in epithets, obscenities and other garbage.

Obviously, the moderators do not feel this is destructive. If you share that misconception, be my guest: continue your garbage. But you've been warned time and time again that you are alienating ACTIVISTS, and seeing as Bush, the asshole of assholes, won TWICE (no matter HOW you judge the win) I would stop pissing on other Democrats. Now. Last Week.

I have never seen the party so intent on cutting its own throat since the McGovern Campaign.

That witch is doing everything in her power to fuck up Obama's chance to win the GE.
