Obama's inner circle & Big Media

http://markcrispinmiller.blogspot.com/2008/02/obamas-inner-circle-big-media.html

Here are three pieces, sent to me by my friend Mark Lloyd. In "Obama boasts a dedicated, high-powered inner circle," which ran on popmatters.com about a year ago, we learn a lot about that group.

-snip-

Right now I want to focus on Obama's connections with the telecom industry. Among his closest friends are Broderick Johnson, a lobbyist for AT&T (and former Clinton White House aide), and Julius Genchowski, general counsel and senior VP of corporate deveopment at Barry Diller's HSNi Broadcasting.

Just below are some pertinent pieces: one on Genachowski's appointment, and the other on AT&T's recent lobbying effort.

-snip-

Hillary Clinton is not likely to make things much better. (Rupert Murdoch hosted her first big fundraiser in New York!) And what about Barack Obama? From his words, one gets a vague impression that he'd surely do what's right. But we don't get that impression from the company he keeps; so we should keep an eye on this, and make sure that Obama, on this all-important issue, is really as unlike McCain as we would like to think.
