If you want to send a message to Senator Kennedy, you can do it here:

TedKennedy.com

I hope that the DU administrators will consider taking up a collection to send something to Senator Kennedy. It might be a good project for uniting people here.

On edit: try this link:

1. Thanks for the link
Here's what I wrote:

Senator -

I just read about the diagnosis and I am heartsick. I am sitting here at my desk at work and I can't stop crying.

I'm too young to remember your brothers, but I'm old enough to remember you fighting the good fight on the Senate floor so many times for all the causes that are important to me.

I was there when you endorsed Barack Obama for president, and it felt like an historic moment then and even more so now. I pray for your recovery, and I pray that when Obama is sworn in as the 44th president you will be right there on stage with him.

Best wishes for recovery. My thoughts and prayers are with you! Thank you for all you have done and continue to do for this country.

2. May I suggest
that instead of sending something to the Senator that we might make a contribution to one of his favorite causes/charities in our name?

10. The Jimmy Fund
"Since its founding in 1948, the Jimmy Fund has supported the fight against cancer in children and adults at Boston's Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, helping to raise the chances of survival for cancer patients around the world."

Sen. Kennedy's colleague, Paul Tsongas, was treated at Dana-Farber.

Also, the charity is closely associated with Ted's favorite ball club, the Boston Red Sox.

21. What was the charity he was supposed to go to a luncheon for on Saturday?
They said on the news that he had made a call to cancel a luncheon for a charity when he was being rushed to the hospital. Anyone know what it was? I think it had the word buddy in it. We could give to that charity, since we know he cares about it enough to headline a lunch.

7. I sent a little $$ to DNC. Figure it will mean more to get DEMS elected than flowers in a vase
Bulging DEM warchests to keep up the fight seem appropriate gifts for a man who could afford anything else he needed.
;)

Thanks for the site, H2O Man.

13. I am not much for comittees
Too many meetings, not enough action

How many registered DUers? Can you imagin the impact if at least half of us sent $$ to DNC or local DEM Congressional Candidates?

Sorry, I am more into practical, direct action than feel-good mass statements of love. We have elections to win and we need to make sure Ted Kennedy knows he taught us to fight for what we believe in.

A flood of cash to DEM coffers would put a smile on that wonderful ol mug of his, I have no doubt about that.

Instead of doing what would make us feel good, Ted Kennedy has given us a big ol clue as to what would make HIM feel good!

17. compromise: everyone who donates via the above link also post that they
did it on DU. Could the mods put up a link that would do both, so he could get a list from DU showing both our respect for him, and our good wishes and what we did about it?
whether it is DNC, or the Jimmy Fund it would be great for him to get a long long list of all of us sending something.
