Ferraro on Faux going on and on about how sexist the media and the Obama campaign are...
Edited on Tue May-20-08 02:31 PM by jenmito
She cited (as examples from "the Obama campaign") "all the surrogates that they had out there from the Black journalists-have you read Bob Herbert in the last 6 months?..." She then went on to mention Obama's "Annie Oakley" comment. She then was asked by Shepard Smith if all of the media is sexist and she said Faux wasn't-except early on when Hannity was doing weekly stories on Hillary, but "at least he was honest about it." :wtf:

Also, Faux has a section of facts which puts up little phrases which change every couple seconds, and they're using "BHO" when talking about Obama! :eyes:

p.s. The only reason I turned to Faux for a minute was to see if they were covering the Kennedy news.

10. I agree...
that was in response to Ferraro asking him why he's doing weekly stories on her and he said something like, "I HAVE to cover these stories" or something like that. My tv turned off! All by itself! Strange.

I think that Hillary, not to be outdone, has to be as discriminated against as Obama was in W.Virginia. Another campaign tactic, like standing in the back of a pickup truck.

Edited on Tue May-20-08 03:03 PM by cynatnite
Tweety saying that Hillary has only gotten where she is because Bill cheated on her is one, IMO. All the calls for her to drop out by many in corporate media when there are still a lot of other candidates running for the same office and nothing is said about them. They have no better chance of winning than Hillary does at this point. Men have not called to drop out the way Hillary has been in this race.

You're not doubting me, but doubt that I know what I'm talking about? :eyes:

38. Why is it "sexist" to talk about MATH?
you must explain to me how that is gender based.

It's a numbers game.

The numbers don't favor her.

HOW IS THAT SEXISM? Please explain...

Matthews is a moron, no doubt. I'm not sure if bill's infidelity is the reason for her success, but her last name played a huge part in her head start she enjoyed heading into the campaign. That's not sexism, that's fact. She was a Clinton, which trumped her gender.

That name carries a lot of inherent weight.

41. You'll have to point out where I said math was sexist...

There are a slew of other candidates besides McCain, Obama and Hillary running for president. They don't have a snowball's chance in hell of winning. Everyone knows it. No one is calling any of them out and telling them to drop out. Look at Ron Paul. Nope, not a word from corporate media.

Hillary Clinton...constantly it's said she's gotta drop out now.

Everyone knows the math is with Obama. Hillary staying in isn't going to change that. When Obama gets the nomination Hillary will get behind him and support him.

Bill's cheating is not what got her elected to the Senate. The NY voters have chosen her more than once just like other senators who have been re-elected. No one is saying that about any of them.

Look at Michael Jordan. I think it's safe to say he's probably one of the greatest basketball players ever. His son is playing basketball. How far do you think his son will get on his father's name?

Name recognition only gets a person so far. The rest of it...comes from hard work. Voters see more in her than her husband's cheating and that she was a first lady. It's not something that should be ignored, IMO.

29. Hillary's gotten a large enough percentage of the vote...
that she couldn't be discounted. This was a two person race between her and Obama from the beginning. Not even Edwards could even come close to her and Obama.

IMO, it's been corporate media that's treated her much worse than they would have if she'd been a man. I've never believed Obama was sexist and I would argue with anyone who claims he is...IMO, corporate media is sexist.

31. After not wrapping it up on Super Tuesday like she claimed she would, she should've been counted out
but the media wanted a horse race. They gave her very positive coverage until she messed up on her own with the drivers' licenses issue in a debate. Then she played the fear card, her surrogates played the race card, and on and on.

They didn't treat her like a woman in a negative way-they treated her like a Clinton.

33. Yes, everyone is accused of playing cards...
:eyes:

It's fucking out of hand if you ask me.

McCain's playing the 'I was a POW card' and nobody's given him an odd look over it either.

Hillary's always taken more heat than anyone else. No man, not even Bill, has gotten done the way she has been by corporate media.

I'm shocked that there are people defending corporate media here on DU of all places.

35. McCain has gotten a pass because the media's focused on our primary. If Hillary
would allow us to get onto the GE, McCain would NOT get any passes. Hillary was treated by the media as the presumptive nominee for a LONG time. I remember Olbermann giving both her and Bill long interviews. He was a BIG Hillary supporter right up until she played the fear card. Keith was being consistent by criticizing politicians who use the fear card. Matthews declared her the winner of every debate even when she wasn't, called her "regal" when speaking about a fire or something at her campaign HQ, and on and on.
