Hillary Made Her Move Tonight. She is NOT Going Away.. It's Time to Act.
Edited on Tue May-20-08 08:30 PM by K Gardner
I don't know where to start. Yes, this is the last redneck primary we'll have to endure, but it doesn't matter. The rules are changing again. Don't tell me I'm biased, because I live in Appalachia.. right next door to KY and I know who's voting and why. Hillary could have done the right thing, what Robert Kennedy would have done, and told people it was wrong to say you wouldn't vote for a man because of race.. but she didn't do that. She played on the worst fears of her base, knowing exactly what those fears were, and she applauded them. The media is helping, and this is not going away.. nor is she.

Over and above that, tonight, she and her surrogates have come out with:
A. Popular Vote
B. Superdelegates Will Decide
C. Obama CANT WIN
D. My Supporters Wont Vote for the Black Man
E. And the zinger.. one we thought we'd heard the last of: HE CANT KEEP YOU SAFE.

This woman is NOT bowing out June 3rd. Unless the Democratic Party Officials, the spineless twits who are now trying to protect poor little Hilly, not hurt her feelings, pacify her very sensitive voting base and radical fringe women's groups..grow a freaking backbone and back Barack Obama, we are screwn. This thing will drag on and on.. the activists (that's us) will be sitting here and elsewhere trying to put out fucking fires started daily by HILLARY SUPPORTERS in our own party. John McCain will continue to savage Obama on Foreign Poicy like he did today, scaring up votes.. and our own party so ineffectual and scared we can't get BEHIND our frontrunner?! Then we have to convince Amurka we can stand up for "them"?

It aint gonna happen, people. We'll MAYBE have 2 months to fight McCain, if that, if Hillary gets her way.

It's time to start calling Super Delegates. It's time to start calling Howard Dean.

It's time. She is NOT going away. Count on it.

58. My point, Fred, is that back in January she rolled out 150 SD's.
Think about it. Tonight in Kentucky we're talking about 15-20 delegates. When the race started, she had ten times that amount before the race even began. It was a giant thumb on the primary scale. She had an "unfair" advantage to begin with-- and she still lost. And she's complaining about how "unfair" everthing is.

Iow, I agree with you.

I KNEW the end game would change, because it has with them all along.

I blame the Dem. Party for not being able to control this situation. It deserves to lose in November if it doesn't do something to settle the situation.

25. It will be settled, imho. And we will have a strong ticket in November.
Yeah, it's been a grueling primary for both our potential nominees *and* their supporters. Yet, it seems that after May 31 DNC Rules Committee meeting and the final primaries in June, we will have a nominee. And I am looking forward to moving to a vigorous convention in August and a strong run in November.

Our party doesn't 'deserve' to lose in any way shape or form. We do need to see this settled so we can set our sights on the Republicans, though, I agree. Just think we will settle it, in course, and we will have a clear alternative to a McCain/Republican Administration.

these pundits aren't screaming "WHY CANT HILLARY WIN THE WHITE EDUCATED VOTE", but they're not.. and they're not going to. Today, on CNN, they said Oregon was basically a "no religion" state, unlike KY, where they had Christian values.

That's what Hillary has wrought. the HELL she has brought with her to our country.

Edited on Wed May-21-08 03:21 AM by Leopolds Ghost
Did she say?

Or was it the ominous notion that Obama went to a black church? Making him less religious than the vaguely evil "but white"
corporocrat Hillary Clinton (who was a sex swinger with her husband in the 1970s Arkansas, and converted to a Dominionist
fascist prayer circle in Arlington, Virginia?)

(i.e. "worse than Catholicism, worse than Mormonism... BLACK people in the pulpit!")

Yet another rift. Atheist/agnostics for Obama v. the rest of the "normal" Americans.

I guess I'm on a mission tonight, but I sure as hell am tired of hearing that we shouldn't post any articles critical of Hillary - or even any polls unfavorable to her, fer chrissakes - because some Hillary supporter might need a hankie if she is criticized in any way.

maybe we should rumble against the Sharks outside the DNC. They bring pots and pans, we bring... more cowbell!! ;)

--- but you know what? I'm not joking about going to the DNC when her supporters do. We could easily outnumber them, which would make a statement on its own. I'm not joking about this because I've seen this shit before -- Florida 2000. I'm not willing to let that happen again. Maybe that's what the super delegates need to see to call a stop to this shit. Maybe they need to see that we're not going to let this happen.

I'm not voting for her. I knew this when the democratic campaign first started and she was a shoo-in. I only decided to vote again when it was possible that she would not win the nomination. The way events have played out, my first impulse was correct. I detest her.

They are easy to explain if you do a bit of basic analysis that the media has FAILED to tell you about.

Kentucky's anti-Obama (85-5% anti-Obama) vote lines up almost perfectly with a certain specific
part of the Appalachian cultural region associated with Mountaintop Removal and yellow-dog Kerry (RFK coalition) voters:

As I mentioned in another thread, she deserves to be on the ticket and her supporters deserve to have some say as to whom is on the ticket as well.

Close to 50% of the Dem party (Hillary's Supporters) can only be ignored at the risk and expense of the Obama Campaign's success in the General Election this fall. You guys need to suck up that fact and DEAL WITH IT!

I am a Democrat - I will vote for the nominee regardless of who it is in November and I'd be willing to bet that 99% of the Hillary Supporters on this board feel the same way. But I have no clue about the Hillary Supporters across the nation. Not all of them are racists and not all of them working for Project Chaos. Sen. Obama will need their votes as well to win in the fall.

78. Can you imagine wanting something that bad - you'll use anything
and anybody to get it?

Do you parents like Richardson? I live in Central TX (working in New Orleans for a couple months). My wingnut
inlaws love Richardson - said he was the only dem they'd ever consider voting for.

39. Look, Obama can't say anything about the "Woman" in this race.....
But she can bring up everything against the better candidate and the eventual nominee. Hillary is soooo George Bush like it is turning my stomach. I never liked Bill the NAFTA king, the gate keeper on the American jobs, that he sent out of the country. Bill go get another BJ from Monica.

51. Consider this: what she wants is for the party to act with overwhelming force against her
She needs a male lead for her Dance of Victimology to be perfected. If she can get "the big bully" to kick over her lemonade stand with a loud crash, she will secure martyrdom with her Hillbot Army. The Dixiecrats will retreat behind their screen doors, roll themselves over snoring in their Confederate Flag sheets and lose all interest in this election, their work having been completed, but the Hillbot Army needs the pageantry of her unfair martyrdom right at the cusp of her Certain Victory to charge them up to defeat the Democrats in 08 and prepare for 2012.

The Party may want to pursue a response of measured force, not giving her the satisfaction of treating her as a fully equal combatant, and simply doling out SDs on her coffin lid in dribs and drabs through June and July, steadily ratcheting up its Hillary Who? attitude as it pivots into full General ELection mode.

90. Then our job should be to goad her on -- because doing so would destroy the DLC.
She has been corrupted by her George Wallace, Reaganite friends in the Blue Dog wing of the party.

They have convinced her to embrace the Reagan coalition of upper class whites and working class whites against the poor and educated liberals, to convince working class whites to abandon the New Deal coalition in favor of the Reagan / Clinton coalition.

She deserves to destroy herself because she will drag the DLC down with her.

K Gardner, I'm so glad we 'little people' aren't maxed out. We'll be able to get OUR GUY into the White House, 10 and 20 or even 50 bucks at a time.

Obama knows it's our liitle dollars which built him up. He knows we are squeezed. he's willing to take the job of being President to help us! I don't ever trust any politician a lot but I won't give way to complete cynicism and despair.

God bless Obama, America and all of us.

85. "Hillary could have done the right thing, what Robert Kennedy would have done..."
EXACTLY! She could have done that. She would have won WV and KY anyway. Instead, she chose to revel in the racism and ignorance of that area of the country. In so doing, she cast her die. And our fate, as Democrats. If, as Johnson said, we are going to lose the South (or at least certain parts of it) for another generation, I'm okay with that. What I'm not okay with is pandering to the absolute lowest common denominator of America. I'm looking at YOU, Hillary. Do the right thing and drop out now, Hillary!

89. The regions voting 90-5 against Obama are the only Appalachian counties that voted Kerry or RFK.
It's more complicated than you make out.

There is a split in the core New Deal coalition here.

Do you want to abandon the New Deal?

Ironically, Clinton DOES want to split the coalition up.

Her husband eliminated much of the New Deal that Reagan failed to undo.

Don't play into her hands by embracing the "we ARE more educated and
more deserving than these racist working class" notion. It is a
divide and rule tactic.

They would like nothing more than to undermine an Obama presidency
from within by isolating the liberal upper middle class and forcing them
to ally with the upper class against the popular interest of the
working class of this country (both working classes -- the "hard
working whites" and the "undeserving poor" as Clinton divides it.)

There have been articles where people in WV and KY were interviewed and it poured out. I really don't care what their problems are, it's 2008 and they still think like that. There's no excuse.
