The argument breaks down in terms of what that window can be. I am not sure what the historical equivalent for women is to Slavery, Jim Crow, and the Southern Strategy/Dixiecrats. Whatever the historical precedent is = window.

If there was any doubt, this proves that Ferraro really is a racist.

I think racism is a continuum where any one person can fall over a lifetime or a period of time. I don't like dual mode of thinking where either you are or are not a racist.

You can be tolerant of difference in one area and completely hateful in another area.

Let's be clear Ferraro has said some audacious and ridiculous crap about race to justify why HRC is not doing well. Also let's be clear Pat Buchanan has made a career of taking jingoism and elevating the us versus them so that we Americans will not be united.

Let's be clear that HRC has made it her business to use race/gender and other feelings of difference or fear to deep six BHO's campaign; however, we lose the biggest part and piece of the picture by saying they are racist and dismissing them COMPLETELY.

In the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s it was understood certain classes of folks were less equal than everybody else. Children of the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s have learned something else and accept these status limitations as things of the past and most refuse to further these divisions.

Does that mean the children's parents were different and taught their children different? Or does it mean people can change and adapt to new social realities?


Ferraro needs to have a little more light shined into her soul. Does she need more exposure? Maybe. Does she need to accept sometimes women candidates lose? Maybe she can look back in her own election bid and figure it out. Does her Democratic family need to step in and help her? Maybe (I would not be the first in line for that intervention).
