Is the the Democratic Party has taken the black vote for granted for the better part of 40 years. Where else are they gonna go, ya know? And so Bill Clinton can have his "Sistah Soljah" moment to put the black radicals in line, and nobody blinks, because where else are they gonna go, yo? And so the conditions of black urban American can deteriorate and then deteriorate again for 30 years, so we can wage a "war on drugs" that disproportionately affects black youth (or, as Tupac says, "'stead of a war on poverty, ya got a war on drugs so the police can bother me...", and we can raise the conservative disdain for African American self-recognition to a fucking value of enlightened Democrats. Hell, posters on these very boards running around arguing that rap isn't even music, and say so with a smile. They will be the laughingstock of history, of course, like the people who thought Coltrane was shit, but they certainly speak to our present condition.
But the minute the script gets flipped, and any one white demographic feels "taken for granted," it's a different story, now init? Then it's all Green Party and "withholding votes" and other nonsenses. I often think that African American voters are the most serious people in this country, surrounded in a Democratic Party filled with a bunch selfish clowns.
"And still I see no changes. Can't a brother get a little peace?
There's war on the streets & the war in the Middle East.
Instead of war on poverty,
they got a war on drugs so the police can bother me..."
