I don't understand all the calls for Jim Webb as VP.

I don't understand all the calls for Jim Webb as VP.
That Virginia senate seat he won was a hugely fought contest and a major success in regaining senate control. Virginia is at best a 'purple' state. How in the world anyone would want to risk having that seat revert to a Republican should Webb vacate it, I don't understand.

holding one Senate Seat.

and incumbents are tough to beat.
