apparently a big, juicy hunk of bait will be offered Hillary

on CNN this a.m. there was a little talk of offering Hill the opportunity of becoming a Supreme Court Justice if she will stop running now.

-----------

don't take the bait Hill! - NOTHING can be assured at this point in time.

(of course she would make a good Justice - AFTER being prez)

1. I would take the bait if I were her.
especially since she'll have a lot more pull as a Supreme Court Justice then she would as a senator, which is what she'll be otherwise.

28. unless obama loses in november
if hillary really believes obama is not electable why would she take this particular bait. if he loses in november he won't be appointing any supreme court justices.

35. I don't think he's going to lose
I think he'll win and then they can work out the particulars. But having the offer is better than nothing. I really don't think that's a bad deal for her or us. Geez I think SCJ would be a truly great place for her. A democrat who is young enough to last 20 or 30 more years!

and i thought the patriots were going to win the super bowl. and everybody just knew that bush could no way in hell get a 2nd term, and yet he did. she already has a senate seat, and should obama not win my guess is she'll run in 2012, so pragmatically speaking, the baits not all that juicy.

49. i am taking it for what it's worth
that's why i said that pragmatically it's not that good a deal.
hillary will hold out for, and receive some kind of consideration. i've read lots of posts that state "she lost, she gets nothing" that's not going to happen. i don't think hillary as veep is a good idea, but it wouldn't surprise me if that happens. this should absolutely be the year for the democrats, but we'll blow it if our base stays divided. mccain is going to be harder to beat than many here give him credit for. losing 10% or so of the base right off the bat will be catastrophic. i read a poll that showed 20% or more of hillarys supporters won't vote for obama. i figure half of those won't vote for obama under any circumstances, but even a loss of 10% will probably be enough for the gop to win in november.

55. I don't think McCain can pull this off unless people start to lose all
the ground they've made.

I think that Senator Obama needs more exposure and a strong pick for his Vice President, other than that I feel pretty good about him. I also realize that it'll be a rocky road at points.

If 10% of our base leaves we'll probably have at least that many from the republican side just not voting. Besides, I just don't believe that most people saying they won't vote for him will follow through on that. Especially the hard core democrats who have worked their butts off for democratic ideals. Most people will calm down and realize the detriment of another war, no progress on health care and massive economic failure that will surely follow a McCain win.

2. THERE WILL BE A TICKET WITH CLINTON AT THE HEAD AND OBAMA AS VICE PRESIDENT
Edited on Wed May-21-08 11:39 AM by nerovitch
I propose that a compromise will be agreed upon. THERE WILL BE A TICKET WITH CLINTON AT THE HEAD AND OBAMA AS VICE PRESIDENT.

It is fair since Hillary has won more votes in important states, and since Obama in a rookie in national politics.

THIS IS THE FINAL COMPROMISE!

Ambassador appointments are, but a SCOTUS appointment requires a serious degree legal and con law experience.

If she was nominated, the Repukes will filibuster her nomination if they have at least 40 seats.

Obama can win. So, why would she take such a deal? He can't nominate her if he's not in office.

He will be in office, though. So, if she takes such a deal (and, I would if I were her---lifetime appointment, from which she could still run for POTUS if she desired) it says that she now believes that he will win.

There is nothing feminist about her actions or her position. She wants to be given it BECAUSE she is a woman, not because she did a better or equally good job. She was so arrogant she didn't even campaign for this thing...until she lost.

She's run a strong campaign, moral considerations aside. I don't think Obama wants her on the ticket, I'd prefer someone like Dodd or Feingold in as majority leader.

She'd be a strong, reliable pro-choice vote on the SCOTUS, and she'd never "have" to run for anything, ever again.

Might not be such a bad deal.
