$22,000,000 that could have been used against the Republicans- WASTED
You know as a rule of thumb, I rarely donate in the primaries (and if I do it's a small ammount). I prefer to have my money spent on taking down the GOP and ending their reign of terror and destruction. Now it's very troubling to learn that Hillary raised 22 million dollars on a lost cause. Imagine how much good that could have done if it had gone to the DNC or the DCC or Obama. It's very troubling to see Democrat's money being squandered away like this.

1. huh?
you don't think we should have challengers in the primaries?

What about the millions Kerry "squandered" in his losing cause in 2004?

It is troubling that you would put so much trust in your hindsight.

3. I think once you have no chance to win, you need to suspend or drop out
so money isn't wasted.

16. some would argue that you stay in til the end
do you end a football game at 59 minutes if down 2 touchdowns?.

and - I guess it would be their call as to whether the money is wasted or not . . . .

18. In that anology you pull your starters once the game is decided
The starters don't play the full 60 minutes, in a blow out. You save them for the next game.

19. No, but you take out your star players so they don't get hurt, don't you?
So they are rested, healthy and ready for the next game, which is the much more important one in this case.

4. No. Not all of that is wasted. Keep in mind that plenty of that was spent promoting her ideas--and
that helps all Democrats. The dollars spent buying Mark Penn an extra chin were wasted, sure--but the dollars spent reminding people about the economy, health care, and Iraq were not.

7. Seriously though, how much of that "free media" was positive?
Edited on Wed May-21-08 12:26 PM by 48percenter
It was either about Pastorgate, Sweetiegate, Pantsuitgate, Tuzlagate...you name the -gate.

How does that really help us in the GE?

:eyes:

Edit: sorry I meant to respond to (doh) ShaneGR. It's been a long day.

10. The polls would indicate the extended race was not helpful

13. are you saying
the polls indicate that the extended race WAS helpful?

I will say that Obama has emerged as a stronger candidate having survived the Clinton machine. But I can't wait to see what the GOP cherry picks for the GE attack ads. :eyes:

14. Obama's numbers in the GE polls didn't start to rise until AFTER
he was declared the winner by the MSM.

5. If you add up all the free media Obama & Clinton have gotten by extending the season....
22 million is a huge bargain. Just my 2 cents.

9. That's the thing....look how many people are voting
this late .. look at all of the Democratic registrations .. the interest.

It's a huge bargain when you look at it that way .. especially if it leads to a win in November.

6. Nomad, you don't get to decide how Hillary spends her
money -- Hillary and her supporters are in charge.

It's very troubling to see this much money spent in any election by either candidate.

But now you're throwing in the guilt trip.

Boy you don't quit.

I can't wait for the next primary date in June.

11. Oh please, if that's not accomplished, it will not be
because of how much money Hillary is spending on her own campaign and how long she's staying in.

As someone else wrote, look at how much good this primary is doing as a whole.

15. If it costs $22 million to get the last few potential Hillary crossovers, I think it is a bargain.
That’s why I still believe we should let this go till June 4th. For the remaining crossovers.
