Kerry's numbers have finally caught up with Bush's plummeting approval.

Remember the meme that every media outlet in the land was pushing up until around the time of the Dem Convention (and even just after it)? The jab at Kerry was "Okay, Bush's approval numbers are falling, but why isn't this translating into Kerry gains in head to head matchups with Bush?"

Well, it's happened.

Bush's approval, after plummeting to a now near unanimous below-50%, has seemed to level off (still declining, but slower).


And now, finally, Kerry has opened up a significant lead over Bush.

Kerry's average lead in polls taken this month 3.2% among "likely voters" and 5% among "registered voters" (that's even counting the CNN/Gallup poll, which IS the most anamolous, and I know many of you are already planning posts discounting that poll).

Kerry's lead is remarkably consistent from poll to poll, and has gotten larger than the lead he already had developed in most polls before the Dem Convention.

"I'm goin down down down down I'm goin down down down down I'm goin...."

Cheney you and the horse you rode in on!

Kerrys slow climb is solid and not a bounce with a fall after the rise.
