I have come to like Obama a lot more.
I still support Hillary but I like Obama a lot more than I did. It is almost 50/50 in my support of them. I will always adore Hillary and have decided if I ever have a daughter I would like to name her Diane(Hillary's middle name).

1. I'm glad. And whatever happens, Hillary has run a historic=
and tough- campaign. She's broken barriers that no woman in this country has ever broken.

2. Every time I start to warm up to him, his supporters at DU give me second thoughts.

Seriously. He is a bright, classy man who has run an excellent campaign, but when I see the antics of a substantial part of his fan base at DU, I back off from full-fledged support.

Of course, if the past is any indication, the response to this post will be a group of his supporters surrounding me and shouting that I am a fool for letting behavior like theirs influence me, thus unintentionally making my point.

5. I notice a lot of people saying that but I don't get it.
Why would the behaviour of his supporters on DU influence your opinion of him? I'm not calling you a fool. I'm just trying to understand it.

8. The only Obama supporters I routinely encounter are the ones here.
What else will I base my impression of his movement on but the people who find him so very, very appealing?

In the case of DU, a substantial number of those people seem more interested in silencing everyone who doesn't share their enthusiasm than in winning people over. I really hate what has happened to this place these past few months: the Lord of the Flies dynamic in which dissenters are mobbed and shouted down, the silliness over hit lists and banning campaigns, the low tone of the discourse here, much of it the work of new arrivals who couldn't be bothered to learn the culture of the board, all of the late 1990s freeper talking points imported wholesale into DU, etc.

9. Well,
I guess I just don't base my impression of politicians on the people who support them. I listen to what the politician says, read what they write, look at their voting records, read about their life story, etc. Maybe I just have a thick skin but I can't think of something that somebody could say or do to me on the internet that would impact my decisions in the real world.

6. Come on, you can't blame him for his supporters any more than
I can blame Hillary for hers.

There are plenty of a**holes to go around on both sides.:7

4. I always liked Obama. It's some of his supporters I have trouble with.
I'm firm for Hillary, but I've nothing against Barrack. I prefer HRC over him because he hasn't served even one full term in the Senate and I don't know him very well. But nothing he has personally said or done has offended me.

But I believe the people who called the Clintons 'racists' on his behalf owe the Clinton and the country an apology.
