I am unwilling to take another heartbreak this November.
Edited on Wed May-21-08 05:54 PM by Zachstar
With todays revealing of Clinton taking this to the convention I need to face the fact that our surefire win has now been lost. For the first time the sickening fear of watching the election stolen is showing...

So hear me out..

If Pelosi, Dean and the other party leaders decide to save their own political assess rather than endorse so that the floodgates can open... Then that is it. I am not going to take the heartbreak of months of watching the divide continue to grow followed by fights at the convention. I will be finished with politics.

You see there is a little problem of...

Ice? Ya it kinda keeps melting...

Climate? Ya it kinda keeps screwing up...

Oil? Kinda keeps rising...

So this "lifestyle" for me and many others may only last half a decade or so left! Why waste it on politics when the leaders will not stand up to bullshit! Why watch with tears as Obama finally gets nominated at the convention followed quickly by a Republican Blitz leading to a stunning defeat destroying the party?

I was ready to work with the party. To be there after Obama was elected keeping my eyes GLUED to CSPAN watching and sending my concerns as change flowed in. And all that is going to go to shit and I have to take that kind of devastation because Pelosi decides that a challenger is getting a little too close to her seat? Or Dean is worried that he is going to be called sexist again? HELL FUCKING NO!!

Pelosi if you want to keep me and multiple others in the party you are going to have to have spine. ENDORSE NOW!!!

I will admit it. Obama is too damn nice to democrats so he is out.

Pelosi is known as the strength of the democratic party so it is HER choice. SHE and DEAN are the ONLY ones that can open the floodgates.

And I will just speak for myself but I am now starting to doubt if I can support Obama if he tries to "make it all go away all nice like" by putting Clinton on the ticket.

It reeks of sexism on Obama's part ("Give that woman the VP so she will shut up!") and reeks of bullshit.

Having Hillary as VP sits well with many Clinton supporters who otherwise may sit it out.

The title of this OP would imply that your statement "I am now starting to doubt if I can support Obama" is a
paradox. Sounds like a recipe for sleep deprivation.

And the party will continue it's shift to right, fighting for more of the republcan right, while having an ever shrinking base, whose voices they've essentially derided or outright shunned.

49. I suspect the dnc has triangulated where the real base is
The chance that a very far left bent is a monolith is pretty much slim to none. Obama telling
people they can't play video games or eat what they want could come in to play without
a handle on where the left comes back around to the far right.

I don't know too many voters that consider Hillary as part of any republican right.

There's a long way to go before May 31st. I'd like to see more SDs endorse Obama before that meeting so that HRC can be prepared to step aside in a dignified manner.

or not (and I'm with you, I don't like it at all). It's not even a case of say finding another country to live in, because how goes the US goes the remainder of the world. I am no more comfortable with a Hillary Presidency at this time than I am with a McCain Presidency (and I really am sorry to have to say that). Our only way out of this shit lies with a Barack Obama Presidency and change that I and many others believe will come with him as President.

11. Obama is not going to be the president if this goes to the convention.
Not Obama

Not Clinton

Not Paul

Not Mickey Mouse

MCCAIN!!!

Because the Convention is so late the republicans can run a blitz campaign before Obama gets effectively started and take back key states VERY easily leading to a sort of close but effective McCain presidency.

And you know what? I can accept that. As long as I don't have to experience the heartbreak then. I will know in my heart that I will made a good decision by leaving the democratic party if they allow this to effectively go to the convention. So that future generations if they survive 50-100 years of republican rule can know why politics is the most evil thing there is.

30. BTW lets get this straight.
This is not 1970 this is not some "Aw shucks we lost but we will get there in 8 years!"

Oil is at an all time high.

The climate is collapsing.

War with Iran is just on the Horizon..

There is no bouncing back from this... We don't have 20 years or 8 we have now. This is THE test 8 years of republican horrors has given the democratic party.

If we can't show strength now and shut down this bullshit then we have no business having a political party. We have already given ourselves decades of sadness by not impeaching Bush.

This is IT. You have the young voters the disappointed republicans. And others and if people like Pelosi throw it away because Sheehan is getting too close then the party will fold when McCain sneaks in conservative judges by signing in bills that appease the democrats.

They will fold when "Iran attacks!!" and McCain declares martial law and president for life.

They will fold.. The party will fold and republicans will rule America for the remainder of this empires time.
