Chelsea "was upset, bawled"..went to her employer and demanded time off
How nice...like mother, like daughter.. give me what I want OR ELSE!!!

How many of us could walk in and threaten our bosses..and still have a job by the end of the day??

Oh, and Bill, given that your daughter is adament about NOT talking to the press EVER, good luck with her running for any office except maybe dog catcher.
And I don't wanna hear that her actions and bawling are not fair game, given that her own father is tossing this out to the media.

http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2008/05/madame-presiden.html

"If you asked me (if Chelsea would run for office) before Iowa, I would have said, 'No way. She is too allergic to anything we do.' But she is really good at it," former President Bill Clinton tells PEOPLE magazine in their latest issue, hitting newsstands Friday.

In the PEOPLE exclusive, Clinton called his daughter's "emergence" the "second best thing" of the campaign, after his wife's "ability to endure in the face of all the blows that have been rained on her: outspent, dismissed, denigrated, declared dead...when I met her, I found that in her personal relationships she lacked self-confidence and was painfully shy. She is having more fun now than at the beginning. If you look at her, she seems perfectly relaxed, doesn't she?"

When asked what he's learned about Chelsea's political skills, Clinton told PEOPLE, "It all changed after Iowa. She realized her mother lost Iowa 100 percent because of younger voters. She was upset, bawled, went to her employer and said, 'Look, you got to let me go or give me an indefinite leave of absence. I'm not letting my mother go down like this.'"

Stop being so defensive of her. I wouldn't put up with that shit nor would most employees, but it looks like they will since she is the daughter of Bill and Hillary. This isn't aristocratic Europe but it seems like too many upper class Americans think it's supposed to be......

21. No...it was a threat
A passionate plea is going in and saying "Is there ANY way I can take SOME time off to help my mom" is one thing. "Maybe a 3 day weekend here and there, can I get off a little early once in a while to catch a flight to where ever..."

But going in and saying the following is signs of a spoiled brat: "you let me take off as MUCH and as long as I want or **I** am telling **YOU** that you WILL give me an extended leave of absence (i.e I will still have a job no matter what) and those are your **ONLY** 2 options.

11. I thought the not speaking to the press protection
was acting like she was 12-years old. Especially when she turned down that kid reporter from her school paper telling her she was part of the press.

I think Chelsea is basically a great young lady. But sure is nice when your family name gets you these high-priced jobs where you can take an indefinite leave of absence. Not dissing Chelsea, all the rich kids get this legacy including the Bush broods!

to be let go or leave of absense.

i don't think the 2 happened at the same time. she cried after the loss. and later on decided she wanted to help her mother full time and asked for the time off from the job.

If your complaint against Chelsea Clinton is that she's involved and supporting her mother, I think you're not very objective. If your complaint is that Chelsea showed emotion when signing up, then you're just mean.

19. Not a big deal to me...and I'm an Obama supporter
I hate to say it, but there is a difference between Chelsea and the rest of us. She is the former president's daughter. Her life will never be "normal". Is it far more privileged? Of course. It is also under the microscope like none of us can imagine. Her name is likely an asset to the company for whom she works which is why she can come and go as she pleases. Chelsea is not an idiot like W. I am sure she actually has something to offer her employers.

22. It does not say that she bawled to her employer - to be maximally fair:
She cried at home alone.

She talked to her employer the next day to say that she was leaving the firm to work on her mother's campaign and her employer offered her an indefinite leave of absence to hold onto a valuable employee.

I am a firm Obama supporter and if the anger about Hillary Clinton failing to step out of the race stays at the level of personal attacks on Hillary, Bill, and Chelsea even I -- who despise many of Bill & Hillary's policies and actions -- will be compelled to defend them.

51. What's the spoiled part?
More so than any child of powerful parents anyway? Are you hanging on the wording used by the writer to reach that conclusion? "Bawled" instead of "took it hard"? What's wrong with "demanding" something from an employer if you feel strongly enough about it to walk away from that job if your "demand" is not met? Folks "demand" raises you know. Folks "demand" time off to take care of a sick relative. They are willing to leave their job if need be if their "demand" is not met because they feel strongly enough about it to do so.

Feeling strongly about wanting to personally help the campaign of a mother who she obviously is very close to seems pretty admirable to me.
