Would you have voted for Ann Richards?
This is totally hypothetical (of course), but if Ann Richards was running in the primary this year would you have voted for her?

I was thinking about possible people who could have run for the nomination but didn't, and it occured to me that Richards could have been a great candidate. Especially as far as picking up southern states, while still picking up liberal voters.

Of course I realize she's out of politics pretty much, but still I think she would have been a good candidate.

1. Richards is great
but she's been working for a law firm that represents tobacco interests. Its the same firm where Bob Dole works.

6. In Texas
Edited on Tue Aug-10-04 09:51 PM by Barret
and lots of good democrats have lost in Texas.

Yet she managed to get elected here, which is something VERY few dems have done the past many years. That should say something about her capability.

Besides, if you know anything about the campaign bush ran against her you'd know it was corrupt as hell. It's not her fault when she was running against the same group that has a history of stealing elections. She played by the rules, bush didn't. She has stated now that she learned what they were capable of, and how to handle it.

8. You damn Skippy!
Ann has more balls than any Statewide Dem here in Texas in the past five years. Lots of mid-level brass-collared Dems but the state party has been pretty much a roll-over for a while. But we are seeing some real winners coming up. Bush better watch his six. we may just have some election surprises for him and Rove and Delay.

9. Ann is a fine person and American patriot. I love her interviews but she
is past her prime. She does her best work for Democrats behind the scenes.

15. Same here. She's one hell of a lady.
Governor Anne Richards' salty hairdresser, Gail Huitt - "Honey," she says, "Big Hair was created for one major reason. A woman learned that when her head was smaller than her butt, she looked deformed, like a marshmallow with an olive on top. Big Hair gives a gal proportion."

Seems like a dream that we once had a democratic governor in Texas...yes, I would have voted for her for president had she run this year.

16. I LOVE Ann Richards! Best thing Texas ever produced
She's my kind of person. She's too senior, I think, to do the job but I'd vote for her otherwise. LOVE HER LOVER HER.

17. Ann Richards is great and I think she's a national treasure...
but I would not want the governor who allowed the second most executions in history (guess who was the first??) to be president.
