Huff Po: Stop Yelling at Hillary to Stand Down & Get Superdelegates to Stand Up (list of undeclared)

The dust refuses to settle on the Democratic race. Hillary Clinton wants to cloud the issue with talk of Zimbabwe, Gore 2000, slavery, the civil rights movement, and fuzzy-math-derived popular vote totals. The media steadfastly refuse to clear things up by sticking to the facts, preferring to keep the horse race going.

So let's see if we can put the focus on those with the power to bring to an end this political equivalent of a 50s horror movie (The Campaign That Just Won't Die!): the superdelegates.

There are currently 212 uncommitted superdelegates (not counting Michigan and Florida). What are they waiting for?

I understand there are still three more primaries to go. But there is nothing that is going to happen in Puerto Rico or South Dakota or Montana that is going to convince Hillary Clinton to leave the race. Her argument isn't about pledged delegates, which is what is at stake in these remaining primaries. Her argument is about Florida and Michigan and convincing the superdelegates to overturn the pledged delegate majority Obama has won.

And there is also no reason for the superdelegates to wait until the Rules and Bylaws Committee meeting on May 31st. Not even the Clinton camp is delusional enough to think it is going to walk away from the meeting with enough additional pledged delegates from Michigan and Florida to overtake Obama.

So it's time for the uncommitted superdelegates to stop their dithering, come out of hiding, hop off the fence, endorse Obama and officially bring this nominating process to an end.

The Democratic leadership -- starting with Pelosi, Reid, and Dean -- should begin working behind the scenes to get all uncommitted supers to immediately commit. Let Puerto Rico, South Dakota, and Montana have their say, but start bringing the curtain down now.

And let's not just wait for the party leaders to put pressure on the superdelegates. Let's start putting pressure ourselves. Below you will find a list of all the uncommitted superdelegates. And this link will lead you to profiles of them. Please call or email the elected officials and track down the DNC members who live in your state and let them know that you want them to stand up and be counted. Now.

Hillary Clinton has more than earned the right to stay in the race until the bitter end. So it's up to the superdelegates to accelerate the bitter end.

We have no effective government if Congress can not stand up and do its job whether or not the President agrees with them.

I can talk to their office and get a reason why she's not endorsing

on the other hand, could have an impact on the choice Obama puts forward. First, I think Obama should pick someone who never supported the Iraq War Resolution, both on grounds of competency and electability. Second, especially given the disappointed base of Hillary voters, it should be (in my arrogant opinion) preferably a woman -- someone VERY charismatic and popular and uniting with little by way of negatives other than from the right, and little by way of baggage. Lots of foreign policy experience is a major plus BOTH for the presidency and for the election.

For these, I think Barbara Boxer would be best, though Stabenow, Sebelius and others might do well also. I don't know where Napolitano stood on IWR back when, but she is another major possibility.

As for males, again you need someone to maximize Obama's chances of being elected -- possibly Schweitzer, of the other primary candidates, probably Richardson and NOT Edwards or Clinton.

What CAN people who DON'T want HRC on the ticket do that is effective and meaningful. Here's one idea -- emailing any glitterati, especially if you know them (ie if they read your emails and even respond), with the idea of one of those full page NY TIMES ads with zillions of famous people signing them, urging against her being selected as VP. Some criteria (eg re: IRW) might be included, and perhaps the suggestion that the nominee be a woman.

Sebelius, she would get a lot of Hillary supporters back in the fold while delivering Ohio

I'd like to see an election where Obama blows McCain away, carrying ALL the northeast (ME, NH, VT, MA, CT, RI, NY, NJ, PA), and then the tier of states to the south of that (MD, DE, VA, NC), and nearly the whole Midwest (OH, MI, WV, IL, WI, MN, IA, MO -- the latter helped by Sebelius), and of course CA, OR, WA and HI. Then, the 2000/04 GOP near LOCK on the internal west busted up, with the Dems carrying NM, CO, and NV. Even w/FL (which I don't think Obama can carry without eg Barbara Boxer on the ticket) going repug, it would be the kind of victory that could be a "transformational" election. Now THAT'S what I'd like to see.

My expectation is it'll be a lot closer than that, and especially if HRC is on the ticket, a possible victory for McCain is hardly out of the question ...

In which case, we'd be talking about plans to extricate ourselves from the Iraq debacle IN THE 2012 ELECTION!
