Be honest here. How do you think people like Alan Keyes and others
running on the republican ticket in campaigns really feel about stumping for Bush, who can barely think or speak about the 5th grade level. That this guy is President is really stunning when you think about the history of the US and its ever-present call to "excellence" "civility" "ingetrity" "justice" "freedom" and "democracy." It must be wrenching to see someone like Bush selected to the highest office in the world knowing that he is probably the least qualified President in our history. Can you name any otheres who were less qualified? Maybe Grant?

1. They vote for the party, not for the man.
They know that Bush* will be gone someday, but they want to retain the power they have now.

So they suck it up and pretend the emperor's clothes are beautiful.

2. Good point.
I don't care much for Keyes, but he at least has a better background and experience to be President than Bush. The same for McCain and Jack Kemp. The Republicans had so many 'rising stars' at one point in time and now they've all been pushed aside and overlooked to pull Bush up from the pits and put him in the White House. The fact that these 'rising stars of GOPville' allowed it to happen just goes to show you how messed up that party really is.

3. Bush speaks the argot of the storefront church
and that's good enough for them. Really. That's all they care about, pushing a narrow religious agenda.

4. I know Bush probably disgusts Alan Keyes
Alan Keyes is one of the most obtusely intellectual men in current politics. I can't stand his politics, but you have to admit the guy is very smart (just not very wise), and compared to Bush he's a friggn' Stephen Hawking.
