In every thread I'm reading there are a slew of Clinton supporters playing down what she said
I would leave the Obama camp if he said what she said, but about her... I would be disgusted at him. I would rebuke him. I would say how dare you say that even though you are clearly going to lose you'll still stick around to hurl negative comments about her because, you never know - she might get murdered in California like RFK did in '68.

I'm really amazed. I thought there would be a bunch of DUers saying they were for her, but were sickened by her comment, even if they still want her for president - we're not even getting that - these supporters are clearly OK with whatever she spews upon him that has never been done in politics before.

She has no decency, and clearly neither do some of her supporters here.

1. The good and thinking Hillary supporters are in a little shock right
now and literally absorbing the impact of this. The loony supporters are the ones who are posting... Like those Bush 28 percenters..

4. Many of the remaining Hillary supporters are too hardcore.
All the complaining they have had about Obama candidates is seeming a little ridiculous at this point.

9. If Obama had said this....
"Bill Clinton did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right? We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California." I would've been fucking pissed at him.

12. In every thread
there are a slew of Obama supporters playing UP what she said - turning it into something entirely made up. It's an utterly contrived scandal. She was talking about primaries going into June.

You guys are adding all the sinister meaning to it.

17. your defense of that garbage out of her mouth today is indefensible
I'd expect any of her supporters to say it was a horrible thing to say, and have his family hear such a poor reference regarding their dad/husband/son getting murdered so she becomes the nominee.

there's no reason for her to say that - none. you know this. especially after Huckabee just referenced Obama staring down a gun, at the NRA meeting, and she STILL says this? c'mon she's not that brain dead - it was said on purpose.

13. if the remaining clinton fans can't understand this on a visceral level
then mercy on their souls

i understand spin, and do-or-die politics, but this is indefensible

the BEST she can do is try to offer a "sincere" apology

and we're still waiting

14. If Senator Obama had said this, I would forthrightly condemn his remarks & call on him to apologize
But all we get from the HRC boosters here is a million reasons whey she's a regular American hero for saying the vile thing she did.

19. Let's be serious here for a minute. What would really happen if Obama mentioned assassination and
Clinton in the same sentence? Hillary's supporters freaked out and starting protesting when he called someone "sweetie", to date probably the worst gaffe he has made. They'd be calling for his arrest and/or obliteration.

15. It would have been so much better had she sincerely apologized immediately
Edited on Fri May-23-08 07:52 PM by fed_up_mother
From the look on her face, you can tell she knew she made a gigantic mistake.

She could have said, "Oh, my goodness. I'm so tired. I apologize for saying what I did. I realize what that sounds like, but I was thinking of the month of June and blah, blah, blah. I'm so sorry. Even as a reference of time, mentioning assassination was completely insensitive of me...."

I think we'd all be a lot less incensed over the matter, even if I do believe that she meant a bit more than "a reference of time."

But...she did what politicians do. She stammered and heed and hawed, and went back to her "camp" to see how she could fix it.

What a mess.

I hope she drops out SOON. Like...yesterday. Obama and and all of us deserve a chance to campaign against McCain and win this election.

she would have to come right out and say something so obvious that it would get her locked up - there's nothing more coded she could say than this...
