You know what?
I really don't think she meant to imply anything. Meant being the keyword.

Because this is down the same alley as the "as far as I know" comment and the Bosnia story.
I see before me the classic image of an angel on one shoulder and a devil on the other. (and one we can call political ambition in he middle)

And the devil has won out at some horrendous times. Seems that it jumps up from some subconscious, and may I say rotten, place in her mind. A place where the it sits and just waits for a moment to inject imagery of the most horrible, evil and calculative kind.

I really don't think its calculated. But its not under control either.

3. "Well I don't want to attribute motives or strategies to people"
Edited on Fri May-23-08 10:15 PM by phrigndumass
When asked to clarify her usage of the RFK assassination as a reason to stay in this race, she responded with, "Well I don't want to attribute motives or strategies to people."

"As far as I know" is very similar to that remark, but the historical context places her comments today into very different, dangerous terms, especially in this country.

As she had used this same comment before today, although today's comments were the first to be videotaped, it is very reasonable to believe she had previously justified to herself the usefulness of such a reference. That fact alone makes her words today intentional.

Even friends can disagree. :)

That's obvious.

5. I'm just watching PBS' Washington Week in Review
and Karen Tummelty from Time said that Hillary made the same comment re: RFK in June to her editor in an interview some time ago... like a couple months ago. So it's not something that just slipped out, it's something she's thought about and said before...

for whatever that means

18. It means she's been told to "get out of the race!" many times
and thus she is used to giving examples of races that went to June. In fact, her earlier statements completely clarify the emphasis of JUNE and late primary contests. They actually exonerate her.

If that's the case, I think Hillary's "angel" must get more vacation time than George Bush, because the devil has been getting about 95% of the air time.

11. Granted, it doesn't seem like it has been busy this primary season
But a lot of issues can be attributed to political ambition/fight. The grey area in the middle.

But there has been quite a few incidents now, where it runs deeper than that.

propelled in her negativity. That's why I keep saying ease up on her and not try to fuel her negative sentiment. Our focus is McCain all we need to know. If she doesn't directly read the board I think she at least gets to hear about it. All you have to imagine if you are ambition driven and see people impede that, then the result is inevitable. We slow this machine by backing down really. Her persona of herself is a fighter if we give no fight then all that is left is reality.

Edited on Fri May-23-08 10:25 PM by masshole
In March, she said it almost exactly as she did today in a Time Magazine article

Twice in May she softened the message, leaving out the word "assassination"

But now that things look bleak, "Assassination" returns to her phrasing.

Calculated, purposeful words.

But rather a very disturbing and subconscious coorporation between her political ambition and a damaged soul.

14. oh c'mon

Ms. 2 for the price of 1, ready on day 1, who spent 8 yrs as active player in the White House on the most intimate terms with the president, who spent 35 yrs preparing for this race, is no college kid still at mercy of her hormones. Both she and her husband know what they're doing, every step of the way. They got it pitch perfect 16 yrs ago, and they weathered storms that'd topple most any other president for an 8 yr. job that brought the US back into prosperity again after absurd deficits begun by the brain dead Reagan admin., and the George H. Bush admin. The two of them deserve huge credit for that, and they get that credit. But now they're getting it wrong time after time. They're out of sync with the times. Simple as that.

16. Robert Kennedy Jr. "I have heard her make that reference before,
citing her husbands 1992 race, but I think it is a mistake for people to take offense."

So the son believes there was no intent other then to show how long some campaigns can take....So obama folks do yourself honor and reread her latest and then her previous comments....

Oh and by the way there was no huge outrage back several months when HRC made these same comments and they were in reference to how long campaigns can run - even into June.....What changed? maybe the same whoremedia that saw no intent in her comments then now because they are so far up obama's ass they cannot amke the same fair judgement....you wanna see hypocrisy? look at the whoremedia.....

Shalom
Ben David

I get a free pass for being agnostic, what's your excuse?

What changed?

Her chances of securing the nomination without foul play. I think Obama was wise not to campaign in WV/KY as Hillary was whipping up hornets' nests.
