Your Biography has now gone from inspiration, to tragedy.

They clearly are not offended. Hopeful? Maybe. Offended? Absolutely not.

7. RFK Jr is Not Offended
Friday night, Kennedy's son, Robert Kennedy, Jr., released a statement that said he understands the point Clinton was making and said it would be a mistake to be offended.

"I have heard her make this reference before, also citing her husband's 1992 race, both of which were hard-fought through June," he said. "I understand how highly charged the atmosphere is, but I think it is a mistake for people to take offense."

http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/05/23/clinton.comments/index.html?iref=mpstoryview

We should however, call her on what a blatantly false comparison it is to point out how the campaign used to last into the summer. Yeah, and they didn't start a year in advance, either. I have news for Senator Clinton, the California for the 2008 election cycle was four months ago - it's not in June.

I don't see why so many are letting her get away with this.

16. At the time of that statement RFK Jr. hadn't seen the video or read her comments
Of course I see CNN has omitted that.

4. She may have upset the 46 to really old crowd ....
...but to the younger set following Obama - RFK means little and their hurt seems contrived.

10. Those of us born after the 1960s are upset for other reasons
I was born in 1970 and thus never knew RFK. But I think that offering up assassination as a variable in your political calculus debases our society in a serious way. Just 5 months ago Benazir Bhutto was assassinated in Pakistan. We have people going on the rampage with firearms in this country with depressing regularity. Obama himself has received numerous threats. KKK leaders have predicted attempts on his life....

Oh fuck it, why am I wasting my time. If you don't get it straight away you will never get it. If you get it and don't care, you're not worth knowing.

23. Because of everything you cited ....
assassination should be a variable in a candidate's calculations. Sorry that the unmentionable truth was spoken ....

If McCain gets a certain tightness in his chest, won't Huckabee start throwing elbows at Romney? You think that has not crossed Mike & Mitts minds?

24. You don't have to have lived in a time to be empathetic to its significance
Edited on Fri May-23-08 11:19 PM by shadowknows69
Much of who I am is what I learned on my own about the heroes and martyrs of that time. Quite simply I'm still waiting to be inspired by my leaders the way the Kennedys inspired, I've always been a fan of Teddy's and much of my personal ideology was formed by reading about that time and our struggles as a nation. I can't speak for all of Generation X but these comments hurt me plenty too.

5. ...
She was just providing examples of past campaigns that lasted until early summer. It was nothing more than that. She should have used a different example but there was no wrong.

9. why was the 'assasination' example, the second one behind her husbands?
there were other examples she could have used... why not just cite her husband? I don't think she intended it to come out... I just think it was there.

Sorry, I have not said such an unkind word about Hillary Clinton during this campaign yet, but really, she can just take a long walk off of a short pier for all I care.

She is pond scum.

21. HRC did not offend me, because I do not need some mediawhore
to tell me what to think. I had heard those words spoken earlier by HRC and even back then I did not associate her comments with the assassination of anyone. And I heard those comments again today and I could see the mediawhores all going apeshit over them, and those same people back several months ago when she first used them said nothing because they understood she was trying to associate the length of campaigns can run in June.....As Robert Kennedy Jr said, " I have heard her make this reference before, and I think it is a mistake for people to take offense." So CHILL folks....

I still am not offended even with all the rants in here by some obambi folks....

Shalom
Ben David

Just like I knew that "fairy tale" wasn't racist and "ISRAEL INFECTS US FOREIGN POLICY" wasn't calling the Jews insects.
