Hillary Supporters, please explain to me WHY she phrased it like that.
For a few weeks now her campaign has been saying she is staying in partly because "ANYTHING" can happen. To me, ANYTHING means ANYTHING including catastrophic events. She is a VERY smart person. She could have easily said, "Look, there are many examples of late primaries in our history" and left it at that. Why did she utter the word "assassinated" referencing RFK? Sure, in part her point was about late primaries. HOWEVER, it is obvious to my 3 year old that somewhere in her mind was also the idea that late catastrophes can happen which can change things. The PROBLEM people are having is her using this notion to justify, in part, remaining in a race she KNOWS she has no other chance to win. MOST DO NOT THINK HILLARY WANTS OBAMA TO DIE. In the big picture, I respect the service of the Clintons which is why I voted for Bill twice. But ad this to her kitchen sink strategy and all the rest of the baggage thus far, and it just doesn't sit well at all with MANY of us and MANY Americans in general. This was a verbal huge blunder, and she needs to hold a press conference to better explain and then apologize very broadly and sincerely for it. Then things will cool down and she can finish out the campaign on a humble, positive note. And then, she and her team and supporters can and damn well should get behind the Dem ticket, which most likely won't include her, so that we don't allow McBUSH to keep filling body bags in Iraq and screwing us on the economy at home.

1. This gets to the point. Why those words?
What was her motivation?

I don't think it was to inspire violence or to claim she would benefit from violence.

I think it was an appeal to the superdelegates that Obama may not be durable or electable. It was to sow fear and doubt in Obama. The words were used very much on purpose. She could have defended a late campaign in dozens of different ways, with dozens of historical examples. She chose the one that would cause a media feeding frenzy. She lacks tact, and her motivations are sad.

2. To refresh memories
to make her point (which I don't agree with) about primaries lasting through June. She said something dumb. You are making far more of this than there actually is. I back Obama and think we should turn our fire against McCain and just ignore Hillary.

3. Well, ya, but there was MORE in her mind than just "late primaries". She was talking about OTHER
THINGS that could happen. The language and reference speaks for itself. This is a MAJOR verbal blunder, and she needs to do a much better job explaining it an apologizing for it.

4. She DID NOT need to say this to "refresh memories", and if that was her only intention it was in
VERY VERY VERY BAD TASTE !! She needs to clean up this mess and quick.
