Team Clinton; People don't understand the context or the intrterpretation ...
... of what Hillary said about Kennedy and the primary.

http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/05/23/clinton.comments/index.html

Clinton's campaign manager, Maggie Williams, told CNN's Wolf Blitzer that people may have "misinterpreted what she meant."

"It was clear to anybody watching her this afternoon that she was ... deeply regretful, and people did not understand the context in which she made this reference, and so I think that she immediately, as soon as she could, spoke out to express her regret for ... perhaps the way that she had spoken or the people had misinterpreted what she meant," Williams said.

Clinton made a similar reference to Robert Kennedy in a March interview with Time magazine Managing Editor Richard Stengel, saying she could not envision a scenario in which party leaders would step in and call for the race to end.

"I think people have short memories," she said then. "Primary contests used to last a lot longer. We all remember the great tragedy of Bobby Kennedy being assassinated in June in L.A. My husband didn't wrap up the nomination in 1992 until June. Having a primary contest go through June is nothing particularly unusual."

<"My husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere
in the middle of June, right? We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California.
I don't understand it," she said, dismissing calls to drop out.>

There is no excuse .... no apology ..... no f***ing thing that can happen from Hillary or
her people outside of getting out of the race and getting out of the Senate and never
ever showing her face in public again. She is a lawyer and should know better than to
ever say anything so awful .... I'll hang around in case Obama is shot and the party needs
a person to jump in. That is exactly what she was saying.

38. No misinterpreting. After flaming up America's bigots to the point....
...where they are quite proud to act out their bigotry and brag about it in front of a TV camera, she then sends a shout-out to assassins, reminding them that another politician, RFK, had won the primary but couldn't run in the GE because he was assassinated, .

Hillary's intent is quite clear: she would accept assasination of Obama if it meant that she could go on to the GE as the Dem Party candidate.

There is a Wiccan concept that what one does come backs to one ten-fold, and that's what I wish to Hillary: May what you wished for will come back to you ten-fold.

EB: You don’t buy the party unity argument?

HRC" I don’t, because again, I’ve been around long enough. You know my husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere around the middle of June

EB: June

HRC: We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California. Um you know I just I don’t understand it. There’s lots of speculation about why it is.

But right now, everyone is still jockeying for position. That's politics.

We are down to the wire, now.

That was her point.

You'd have to figure that three-plus contests today, combined, equalled ONE back then, since they only had fifteen total and we have more than fifty.

33. So what? The point wasn't which state was biggest, the point was
that it is JUNE and we are down to the wire. And a floor fight looms. Like it did in sixty eight.

If you want to play it line by line with sixty eight, let's have a look at the states that were primary states back then, and who WON them--this time:

California/Clinton
Oregon/Obama
Nebraska/Obama
South Dakota--JUNE 3
Wisconsin/Obama
Illinois/Obama
Indiana/Clinton
Ohio/Clinton
Pennsylvania/Clinton
New Jersey/Clinton
Massachusetts/Clinton
New Hampshire/Clinton
Florida/Clinton

Gee, is that terribly instructive? It's good news .... for CLINTON. If we were playing it line for line.

You can get TOO far down in the weeds, you know. The point was JUNE. A load of pouters took a molehill and turned it into Kilimanjaro to suit their own smear/sexism/dumbass agenda. It was a rather history-free stunt, too, and a display of real ignorance. Not their finest hour.

52. And "you guys" can't seem to ACCEPT that a woman would have the "balls" to
compare her campaign to that of another Senator from New York who happened to be a man.

Thatcher, Meir, Bhutto and Ghandi weren't viciously insulted with childish invective, called sexist names, and didn't face the vitriol of the "immature, insecure American"--of both genders-- who is frightened of powerful and capable women. So your argument doesn't fly. See, even in countries where women followed more traditional roles, their poppulations weren't FRIGHTENED of the prospect of a woman in power. Which IS the case here.

Look around this board, at the idiotic pictures, the verbal insults, the disgraceful posts. This place looks like a rightwing nuthouse at times, with all the Shrillary, Hitlery, cackle, cankles crap.

May no one ever have their mother, sister, wife or daughter treated in such a fashion.

Facts are persistent things. You don't have your facts in order.

22. Dean's organizaton SUCKED. His supporters, especially the young ones, were every bit as
rude, hectoring and bellicose as many Obama supporters....only DEAN had LOUSY organization.

It's hard to make anything happen when your organization sucks. It's hard to make anything happen when your supporters are infatuated with a "persona" too--like those Orange Hat punks were with Dean. The regular old pragmatic schmucks, like ME, flipped over to Kerry without any problem, and straightaway, too.

Dean was working FOR something, you know. And he got it (after a massive fight, but he got it). It's the job he holds now.

They had fifteen, we had fifty plus.

It's not about the order, or even the size of the states....it is about taking it to the convention. "ON to Denver" instead of "ON to Chicago" is the point. Had RFK not been murdered, he would have been in the same situation Clinton finds herself in.

She is NOT hanging on for the few delegates available. She isn't gonna get many of the few still available and her own campaign knows it.

Piffle, your rationalizations do not hold up to the light of day. Hillary is biding her time waiting for a tragedy and that is blatantly obvious. She and McAuliffe's strategy is now down to hoping to steal from the dead. They are ghouls and should be out of public life for the rest of theirs.

The point is, the END of the primary season is happening. IN JUNE.

There is no nominee yet. NO ONE has enough votes to secure it.

A floor fight is looming.

That was the point.

It doesn't have to be point-for-point EQUAL between sixty eight and now.

If it were, the nominee would be Clinton. And we wouldn't be having this discussion.

I kind of like Spike Lee's analogy

You are on the losing side of a basketball game, 10 points down with seconds left in the game. What do you do to stall for time-commit a foul, invoke time outs?

Hillary is on that losing team, her expenses are bleeding in the red, it will be a miracle to get votes and she is acting on desperation thinking something miraculous is going to happen in June.

Hillary: what is really going to happen in June -- is your campaign is over, and that Senate seat calls you back to continue your work.

Clinton campaign on ropes

BY JOHN GUERRIERO
Published: May 08. 2008 6:00AM
Murray, who has supported Bill and Hillary Clinton since 1991, said these are tough times for people like him who are in the Clinton camp but want to unify the party.

"The sense is, absent some catastrophic event that would take place in this campaign, it's going to be very difficult to see a path to victory for Hillary
given what happened" Tuesday, Murray said.

Analysis: Could Clinton land the VP nomination?

Several Clinton associates say there is still a ray of hope among some in her campaign: that a "catastrophic" revelation about Obama might make it possible for her to win the presidential nomination.
But barring that, Hillary and Bill Clinton recognize that her candidacy is being abandoned and rejected by superdelegates whom she once expected to win over and that, even if she were to win the popular vote in combined primary states, she will almost certainly be denied the nomination.

CBSNews.com Reports: N.Y. Senator Now Faces Nearly Impossible Odds To Capturing Democratic Nomination
May 7, 2008

Clinton's Path To Victory Slipping Away
There is one scenario which does work for Clinton and that’s a massive movement of superdelegates leaving Obama and supporting her. The party leaders could do that, but it would take some unforeseen development in the race between now and the convention for them to do so. Obama, in some way, would have to be rendered so unelectable that the party rejects him at the convention. That’s not much to hang a hat on but it’s starting to look like her best option.

And even that might not be a viable option, said Joe Trippi. “Even if the catastrophic thing existed or happened, if she were perceived to have caused it, I think it would end her campaign too,” Trippi said. I don’t think there’s any way now for her to gain the nomination. She’s at the point now where if she tries to make a case against Obama, it will actually speed up superdelegates joining his cause just to shut the campaign down.”

But Trippi notes that the Obama campaign and Democratic leaders are still likely to give Clinton the room she needs to go forward on her own terms, provided that she does so in a positive manner. “I think there’s lots of tolerance for her going on, running the table into the convention and having a presence there,” he said. “But if she actually tries to compete in the trenches for the nomination in a way that looks like it’s damaging the nominee … I don’t think there will be any tolerance for that at all.”

55. When Her Husband Ran
the California primary was in June and his winning in California didn't have that much of an impact. Brown was done in April. The Iowa caucus was not right after New Years and Super Tuesday was in March. Until the states started playing leap frog to make their votes count the primary started later. I guess the Clinton campaign assumes no one remembers enough history to challenge their stats.

The Clinton camp wants to blame her failure on the Obama camp, IMHO. Senator Clinton has spoken several times stating the Obama camp has called for her to drop out. Her supporters parrot the same but I have not heard an Obama official say it nor have I been able to find a link. People sure do like to read in between the lines.

Senator Obama has shown grace and dignity throughout the Kennedy remarks. There is no way I will ever believe that Senator Clinton didn't understand the implication of what she was saying and I am NOT saying she was hoping Obama would be assassinated.

56. No more presidents
who can't admit mistakes, refuse to listen to what our nation wants and instead insist on their own agenda, who call the electorate stupid, who will wage wars/obliterate people that offend them, that seek to turn their elected office into something more akin to a freaking dictatorship. That is Hillary Clinton's agenda, and it won't happen in my country.

Hillary is actually Bush's third term candidate.
