I find it funny that people actually believe anything written on this board hurts the opposing candidate or even helps theirs.

Unfortunately I never supported a single candidate because want a particular system of government, not an individual.

It appears Obama is the best choice. 'Obamites' have worked the hardest promoting their candidate. Just look at the DU, where probably 95% are Obama supporters. Hillary is fine too, IMO, but it's people who support Obama who are willing to take the time to get on the internet, find the DU, sign up for an account, and post here. There's just no comparison between the two based on that kind of support.

I have been lurking on DU for years, but just signed up to post in the message boards this week after months of deciding if I wanted to jump into this mess. I will tell you over the past several months I have had a good laugh at all the people shouting "Ignore" and "Alerted" along with the thousands of names each camp is calling the other, some funny and some not-so funny. Clearly there are passionate people on both sides, and when that happens, people tend to get carried away, and topics can go downhill fast. I think the fact that we are in cyberspace makes it ten times easier to make some of the nasty comments about others that we would never say to them face-to-face. We all have the same goal in the end though, to get a Democrat in the White House!

The candidates are so similar that one can not discuss the differences between them, only shout and call names. They both voted to extend the Patriot Act. Let's discuss that. Obama voted for Cheney's Energy Bill. Clinton did not. Let's discuss that. They both voted for constant war funding, while most active Democrats wanted them to stop funding. There's a topic! We, the rank and file, would like to see not for profit health care, both Obama and Clinton roll their eyes and say 'no way' to that. Discuss. Clinton voted to keep cluster bombs. Obama voted with Frist on Terry Shaivo, of all things. Let's talk about that...
No instead they have to pretend the two are wildly different, and engage in name calling. Because of that, I assume that all who support Obama are in favor of the Patriot Act and the Energy Bill and agreed that Shaivo should have been left on life support. Is that the case? Do all who support the candidates over the issues now reject non profit health care also? Are you all in favor of the war funding now?
If they did not call names they would have things to talk about. The issues make them uncomfortable. A real reformer or change candidate would not have voted for the Patriot Act. They both did. Discuss that.
I say finish this sentance: " My candidate voted for the Patriot Act, and I think that is great because......".
