That right there is new politics versus old politics. This whole episode is a lesson in how to act with class when your opponent fucks up like that.

9. to be fair, it's a lot easier to take the high road when you've already won.
besides which, some opponent's gaffes are better exploited other than by direct comments from the candidate.

i agree with your central point, though, and love what obama is already doing to shape the tone and rhetoric of national politics. there are probably better examples of your point.
