Obama's within 50 of clinching the nomination officially!
I just checked out DemConWatch, and they have Obama at 1976 delegates, which means he is 49 delegates away from grabbing the nomination! He's almost at the point now where, even if he doesn't pick up another single SD, he can win the nomination and hit 2025.

The last big primary is Puerto Rico, with 55 pledged delegates. Clinton's expected to win there, let's say by 60-40, and split the delegates 33-22. That takes Obama down to 27 delegates.

After that, it's Montana, with 16 delegates, and South Dakota with 15. Obama's supposed to win big there, again let's say 60-40 in both, and split the delegates 10-6 and 9-6 respectively. That means that all he needs is EIGHT more SDs to clinch.

So if you're looking for a magic number for Obama between now and the 3rd, it's 8. If Obama gets 8 SDs in the next 8 days he's virtually guaranteed to reach 2025 on June 3.

2. Just an FYI - that 2025 number will change next week when FL & MI get resolved
It will go up depending on how they decide to deal with FL & MI delegates. Hillary's & Obama's delegate counts will also go up, but so will the number needed to win the nomination.

3. New number will more than likely be 2138
But that is still within reach.

4. End of the day, Obama needs about 8 to clinch regardless
of the outcome on May 31.
