Dean campaign should create "Im Angry too Howard!" bumper stickers
Edited on Sun Jan-04-04 05:29 PM by shance
I find it interesting that many Republicans can be as angry and mean-spirited as they want, but when Democrats or Progressives counter with anger, we are shamed, reprimanded and criticized for what is appropriate and healthy and even sane.

OF COURSE WE ARE ANGRY. WE ARE ANGRY BECAUSE WE CARE.

And we are so much more than just one emotion.

We are concerned, we are empathetic, we are caring, we are committed to progress, we are patriotic, we are dedicated and in love with our country.

However, the anger is important because shows we are concerned about our country and what is happening to it.

I wonder if these individuals chastising us for our anger think we shouldnt be angry at the attacks against our Civil Liberties and our rights as citizens and activists in the name of Terrorism,

the lack of a decent education for our children, we shouldnt be angry at the negligence to protect citizens from deadly spread of illnesses like Mad Cow, anthrax, etc.,

the lack of decent healthcare for anyone who cant afford it, the constant, never-ending attacks on our rights as women to merely govern our bodies without the government intervening, the tax burdens on middle/lower class families, continuous assaults on the environment in the name of profit,

the attacks on our troops and innocent civilians in Iraq, the neglegince and indifference to our elderly, the lack of fair media coverage for everyone, the absense of good leadership from those that should be listening to their constituents instead of special interests and lobbyists?

I would like to think that humans would instinctively be moved towards doing what is fair and in the best interest of all Americans, but apparently that is not the reality.

Have the people in Washington not been listening? Of course they havent. THAT is why we are angry.

Anger born out of concern is healthy. We should be proud of our anger and certainly not be ashamed of it and use it to promote positive, responsible change.

I will protect every Americans right to speak their mind, EVEN if it is something I dont believe in.

The media and Republicans have done this before in going after the Democratic frontrunner with relentless anticipation. We should know this by now and not buy into it.

What concerns me the most is that I am watching the candidates from Washington like Lieberman, Gephardt, and Kerry attacking and trying to knock down Governor Dean. I believe they are doing damage to all Democrats when they do that because they are empowering the Republicans by doing it and revealing a lack of unity or at the least, cordiality between our candidates.

I threw my support to Governor Dean because he is not afraid to be a true Democrat and is not afraid to speak out on touchy issues, AND he can win.

He has forced the other candidates out of their box because he has not been afraid to show he is angry at what is happening around us.

So you bet Howard, count me in.

I AM ANGRY TOO!!

2. Yeah, but everyone would think they were a slam against the good Doctor
Because anger is "bad." "Don't worry, be happy," etc etc.

Apparently no one has the right to be angry anymore. Whatever.

4. Angers only "bad" if we allow misleaders to imply that anger is baaaaad.
and dictate who Democrats are versus dictating our identity ourselves.

Most individuals know that anger is a normal human response and what worries me is the Americans who arent angry and concerned where our nation is headed.

It is how we channel and utilize anger that reveals if individuals use it for positive purposes or negative.
