Lakoff: Moral Politics, Rep=Strict Daddy vs. Dem=Nurturing Mom

This whole crap that is being put out by Cheney re: Kerry's 'sensitive' comment plays right into what George Lakoff writes about in his book 'Moral Politics: How Liberals and Conservatives Think.'

Repubes = Strict Daddy (look at G.F.Y Cheney, ain't he the daddy?)and Dems = Nurturing (possibly weak or overindulgent) Mom

Is anyone else reading this book and feeling their head spin watching what is going on??

I say we blow this paradigm and combine the best of both worlds if we are to win.

He let the twins kick up their heels to their hearts' content, and his own dad didn't draw in his leash to stop his own underage drinking, etc.

The Bushes are too high up the status ladder to share the lower-middle class obsession with "keeping your nose clean".

But they sure love currying favor with all the martinet dads (and moms) in the Repuke party!
