There's nothing wrong with GD-P.
To the people bemoaning the fact that there is so much vileness and hatred here, what do you think would happen if there were no GD-P? It would spill out into the other forums and we would see a mass exodus of epic proportions. Just hang out in the other forums if it offends your sensibilities.

3. Since you were posting Rush lyrics earlier...
The Enemy Within

Things crawl in the darkness
That imagination spins
Needles at your nerve ends
Crawl like spiders on your skin

Pounding in your temples
And a surge of adrenaline
Every muscle tense to fence the enemy within

I'm not giving in to security under pressure
I'm not missing out on the promise of adventure
I'm not giving up on implausible dreams
Experience to extremes
Experience to extremes...

Suspicious looking stranger
Flashes you a dangerous grin
Shadows across your window...
Was it only trees in the wind?

Every breath a static charge,
A tongue that tastes like tin
Steely-eyed outside to hide the enemy within

To you, is it movement or is it action?
Is it contact or just reaction?
And you...revolution or just resistance?
Is it living, or just existence?
Yeah, you! It takes a little more persistence
To get up and go the distance

17. Focus on the positive.
:)

There is unrest in the forest
There is trouble with the trees
For the maples want more sunligh
And the oaks ignore their pleas

The trouble with the maples
(and theyre quite convinced theyre right)
They say the oaks are just too lofty
And they grab up all the light
But the oaks cant help their feelings
If they like the way theyre made
And they wonder why the maples
Cant be happy in their shade?

There is trouble in the forest
And the creatures all have fled
As the maples scream "oppression!"
And the oaks, just shake their heads

So the maples formed a union
And demanded equal rights
the oaks are just too greedy
We will make them give us light
Now theres no more oak oppression
For they passed a noble law
And the trees are all kept equal
By hatchet,
Axe,
And saw ...

It most assuredly is supply and demand. Since when do popular votes (specious as your claim is) correspond to number of posts on a forum?

27. Hillary has lost, and will not be the nominee of the Democratic party for the Presidency.
Edited on Tue May-27-08 02:29 PM by Spider Jerusalem
What are you going to do come 4 June, when Obama secures the nomination through superdelegate endorsements? What will you do come August, when that outcome is confirmed on the first ballot at the convention? Will you expend the same level of energy working to get Obama elected that you have in arguing against him?

18. There's a few, for sure.
But I think a lot of people who are just passionate are getting tagged as trolls.

Regardless, the 1-week period following Obama's designation as the official nominee will be a heck of a ride. I plan on purging myself of all the impolite things that have been building up as well. :)

20. I think it's a concerted effort
When you open GD-P and see 20 anti-Hillary threads with the same topic that are posted at pretty much the same time, it's pretty clear there are some talking points being issued and that people are acting on them.

I changed my mind on Friday. Now I'm sure it's an organized effort. For one thing, posters I have never heard of have appeared on multiple threads on which I've posted, with snarky responses to things I've said. This is apparently not happening to me alone. Witness the glee when some people are just driven nuts by it all, post something that gets them TS'ed, and there is actual rejoicing over the fact.

22. You know those movies like Saw or Hostel?
I CANNOT STAND gross, bloody, gruesome, torture-themed horror films like Saw or Hostel. I personally find them devoid of artistic expression and morality. I cannot understand for the life of me why anyone would want to sit in a theater for 2 hours and watch people be tortured. I can't imagine how it can be good for ANYONE's psyche.

BUT, I don't think they should be banned. I accept that some people find some entertainment value in them that I just don't get.

My solution: I don't watch those movies or expose myself to any media that I find to be THAT deeply upsetting.

Same thing with GDP. If you find the tone, language, or subject matter of GDP to be too upsetting - DON'T COME HERE. Post elsewhere like general discussion, or latest breaking, or your candidate's supporter forum. There's something here for EVERYONE. And just because GDP isn't for you doesn't mean it isn't right for me.

I like GDP. I rarely post anywhere else. I don't mind harsh language or fringe opinions. I like talking to other people as absolutely rabid about politics as I am - whether they are on "my team" or not. It's the free and open exchange of ideas - no matter how offensive or nutty. So leave my GDP alone.

it seems as if every stinking movie made now is a bloody horror flick. Is the younger demographic really that shallow?

26. I dont know...
On at least some level it seems a gradual desensitization process. I guess once you've seen one guy tortured for hours, you've seen them all? There's very clearly some effort to "top" the last most graphic film. Up the ante. Have the biggest shock value - a common reason why teenagers do almost anything.

To be fair, I don't think it's the younger demographic. I think it's the younger, MALE demographic. I don't know any female of any age that enjoys these films, but most of my brothers-in-law, male friends, and male co-workers (under age 35) seem to enjoy them.

It's just hard for me to relate to that. Reason number 5,278 why I'm a lesbian, I guess. ;)

Most of it is intensely stupid, fixated on trivia, dominated by the most extreme and unsupported views from both Obama and Clinton supporters who just are louder than anyone else.
