Convention: GOP p'd off that Rudy & McCain will NOT be on national TV...
Edited on Fri Aug-13-04 08:57 AM by charlie105
From that NY rag (NY Post):

Republican National Convention organizers are fuming that network TV won't broadcast former Mayor Rudy Giuliani during his prime-time speech on the gathering's opening night.
The networks are airing only three nights of prime-time coverage during the four-day convention — the same as for the Democratic convention in Boston.

Both Giuliani and Sen. John McCain are scheduled to speak on Aug. 30, the opening Monday night.

2. I guess then now know how we felt

If the networks change their stance now, they demonstrate pro-Bush bias.

We've sort of got them in a Catch-22.

3. Who will get live coverage? And I bet this story is a red herring. I bet
the media whores spend hours replaying tapes of Bob and John's speeches.

4. Prime time didn't show Obama's speech
either. As with the Democratic convention, they can catch the speeches on C-Span like we did. Why are they surprised considering the little coverage we got anyway? Besides, as with the Democratic Convention you will probably have the likes of Tweety breaking in and interruping constantly so that people can hear HIS take. Hey, we had to put up with it, now its their turn.

5. I Know
How deluded those assholes over in Freepland are, but every time I read their delusional rantings I'm still amazed.

For example, this dude seems to be living in a bizarre alternate reality:

"That's BS, we need to DEMAND they cover it. I'm so sick of this crap. Sometimes I think it might even be worth it to put the Fairness Doctrine in just to make the useless POS media covers both sides . Because we know they only cover the Left now. In fact, if you watch main stream media, it's like the Right doesn't even exist. President Bush really is up against unprecedented-in-history propaganda. The opposition is throwing everything but the kitchen sink at him."

7. WAAAAAAAAAH!
The only way that coverage will be comparable is if the cable networks have Democratic pundits to hammer on the proceedings unanswered.

15. Didn't Bill 'Who's looking out for Bush' O'Reilly tell Krugman
that his coverage of the GOP lie-fest would be on the same pattern as that of the Dem hope-fest? Let's see how he spins this.

20. They're pissed because it's their only chance to get someone to
watch "shit on parade"!!! We saw that there wasn't exactly billions who tuned into the Dem Convention. But there at least was the curiosity of "who is this Kerry guy"; "will he do okay or will he bomb", etc. Everyone knows the half-wit. The half-wit lovers will be there via the cable newsnetworks and C-Span just like us devoted Dems were for the Dem Convention. But no one else will tune in. It's also late in August when people are doing the last "summer flings". They will have just come off of the Olympics and not in the mood to stare any longer at TV. Kids are starting back to school or the pre-season practices, etc. that parents have to cart kids to are starting up. People are taking kids to college. And because no one is curious about George, no one will bother to listen to an hour of him blather on or his cheerleading squad. But if they can get the coverage on the networks, they hope that inadvertently (because other programs would be knocked off), some people may listen. Democrats have to be ready to go insane, scream their asses off if the networks attempt to do anything more than what they did for us.
