Biggest question you will answer this week?
Will Hillary do a LIEBERMAN?
And run as an independant, thus ensuring a McCain win. I think this is what she's aiming at. Then she can play the VICTIM card and whine all the way to Nov. And run again in 2012.

2. Without the Democratic party, the Clintons couldn't raise cab fare
Without the party, they wouldn't draw 50 people at most venues in America.

If she goes Indie, she's DONE. She won't pull that many votes as an Indie.

3. May not be possible in many states (edited)
Edited on Thu May-29-08 07:09 AM by Jersey Devil
Many states have laws that say that a candidate in a primary election for a political party cannot run in the ensuing general election as an independent for the office sought in the primary. I'd have to do some research to determine how many states have such laws (obviously Connecticutt, where Lieberman ran, doesn't), but I have read about it several times in the past.

Edit: example - Ohio - Ohio Revised Code § 3513.04 contains a “sore loser” provision. According to the statute, “No person who seeks party nomination for an office or position at a primary election” by declaring his or her candidacy or intent to be a write-in candidate and who loses in that primary “shall be permitted to become a candidate by nominating petition or by declaration of intent to be a write-in candidate at the following general election for any office,” except for a short list of specific offices such as state school board. http://moritzlaw.osu.edu/electionlaw/reform/Charles-Morrison-Independent-Candidacy.php

So, apparently she could run in Ohio (because she won the primary) but in states with similar laws where she lost she could not run.

4. Can't happen
She wouldn't be able to have her name on the ballot in states with sore loser laws on the books.

7. Not this cycle. But look for DLC/"Centrist" party to be formed soon.
The whole point of this primary season has been to wrest
control of the Democratic Party back from the DLC assholes.
And the DLC has no intention of giving up what power they
have, even if they are ejected from the Democratic Party.

So look for Lieberman, the Clintons, Harold Ford, and a
few rejected Republicans (perhaps including Arlen Spector)
to form a "centrist" party by the next big election.

9. Turning traitor to the Democratic party by running Independant would...
trash Bill Clinton's legacy. And they have no cahs. No way.
