Hillary Supporters, please read (and respond)
Edited on Thu May-29-08 09:46 AM by berni_mccoy
I admire and respect the tenacity you have and your ability to remain at DU. I truly do. But I have a couple of serious questions for you.

Let's say the RCB reverts it's decision to remove 100% of the pledged delegates and restore the minimum penalty of 50% of the pledged delegates and grants the delegates in proportion to Hillary's winning percentages in those states (Obama gets the remainder of the pledged delegates, being the only other contender remaining). Super Delegates get no restoration, as called out by the rules as the minimum penalty (RCB has no authority to restore them, and after all, they are responsible for this disaster). In my mind this is fair as it gives the proportionate voice back to Florida and Michigan voters while still maintaining a penalty for those states, with the heaviest penalty being applied to those responsible (the Democratic Party heads of FL and MI). Furthermore, it would be fair to both campaigns.

Then after the remaining primaries, Obama still leads in pledged delegates and super delegates and he receives enough of the remaining super delegates to win the nomination.

Will you support him as the presumptive nominee?
If Clinton continues and takes it to the convention floor, will you reject her for that?

Again, I appreciate your position and I hope to gain an understanding of what is to come. I look forward to your responses.

3. Oh, I see, Hillary Supporters would rather jump to conclusions and attack fellow dems
Than answer an honest question. See http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x6172191

They quickly run to attack a call for Hillary to stop dividing the party (as she is), jumping to the false conclusion that it is a call for her to quit. They would rather use that as an excuse to attack Obama than respond to an honest and valid question.

The reality is, they are happy to support Clinton all the way to the Convention, allowing McCain to win the General Election.

I'm done with trying to reach out to them.

6. I think the lack of support for this topic and basically NO answers
from the Hillary supporters is very telling.

Maybe what it says is there are very few "pure" Hillary supporters and loads of astroturfers from the swiftboat outfits....

11. To inflame the rift between the O and H camps -
Think about how nasty things get IMMEDIATELY on both sides. -

The most inflammatory op's come from the same 10 morons - some are well written but still specious bullshit....

And the only thing they are here to do is to keep the shit stirred so we as Dems won't concentrate on our very real opponent.

There are a couple of die hard zealots, too, but they will come around when the candidate fully emerges.

And there are a couple of garden variety racists here too, who are DINOS....

"Democrat as long as you're white"

painful but true.

15. I hope that she takes it past the convention.
I sincerely hope that she, regardless of the election results, sets up a parallel government.

I hope that she spends the rest of her campaign cash on lawn-chairs so that her supporters can have a voice in Denver.

I sincerely hope that she makes Charleston, West Virginia the new capital of the United Hillary States (UHS.)

I hope that her first executive act is to outlaw Jay-z and Miley Cyrus "ring-tones."

I hope that her second executive act is Free Liquor Fridays, entitling every hard working person to a complementary beer or the mixed drink of their choice.
(I would opt for the mixed drink because most of the major breweries are in "Obama" states.)

I hope that she never gives up fighting for you. (Even if you don't think you need her help.)

17. The RCB should award delegates based on the vote totals at the time.
No more, no less.

Any other method is an insult to the voters.

Problem is, for some Obama supporters, that's not enough.

19. For the majority of the history of the Democratic Party the
candidate was decided upon at the convention, often on the floor, many times as a result of decisions and deals made in back rooms.

Sen Obama is far to young to remember and the very young, inexperienced young people who he has attracted to his campaign certainly do not remember.

If Obama is the choice of the party and ultimately the choice of the nation, then a prolonged primary, through the final decision at the convention should not be a problem.

Senator Clinton speaks for more then 17 million who find her message to be important and relevant to the future of this nation. To say that because Sen Obama has secured a tiny majority over her effort, Senator Clinton should be silenced and that her supporters, should have no say at our convention, is ludicrous and fankly damned Republican-like.

If Obama does not have spine and guts enough to weather a Democratic Convention process then every one of his supporters should question if he has what it takes to lead this nation.

31. oh, please. The majority of Obama's supporters are not young.
they're simply not over 65. Middle aged woman here who knows that modern conventions are simply coronations and unity building. The conventions that have been contested in one way or another since 1968, have all resulted in losing nominees. If you knew anything at all, you'd know that.

And you know who doesn't want a contested convention? The SDs. Nancy Pelosi, Howard Dean, Harry Reid, etc.

And hilly has demonstrated that she can't run a campaign worth shit. This should have been a stroll in the park for her.

Fortunately the SDs want nothing to do with her.

23. The Convention is not simply an acceptance speech.
The final platform will be determined and the nominee for Vice President will be chosen. There is a lot of business to conduct. She will control close to 2000 delegates there. It is perfectly appropriate for her to participate as a candidate at the convention.

30. Can't this wait a few days?
Seriously. Five days, and the last primary is over. Time enough for questions like this then, IMHO.

As to the "silence" I suspect a lot of Clinton supporters haven't even clicked on this thread. They've been suckered in to an attack post too many times in the past. (I.e., a post with a headline "serious question for clinton supporters" that in the body of the post says things like "how can you support such an imbecilic, immoral, ugly skanky BITCH?" or words to that effect.)
