How come no one is putting Edwards' pledged delegates into Obama's total?
I thought he endorsed Obama and "freed" his own delegates to make the jump (or some such), yet everyone from Demconwatch to CNN shows Edwards' seven delegates in a separate column. At this point, 7 delegates would get Obama that much closer to the nomination--what's the deal?

2. Not all of them have endorsed Obama yet.
They will.

Also, it's pretty clear that Obama's holding back his delegates until SD and Montana get a chance to vote.

5. rumor now has 35-40 Supers holding and waiting for Obama to give them the go-ahead
He only needs 44 total delegates to win the nom.

6. I'm thinking just the opposite...
That he'll release the delegates just before June 3, thus giving SD/MT the chance to push him over the top, rather than the supers.

12. We're pretty much saying the same thing.
It'll be over June 3rd (it's really over now) but he wants to enfranchise SD and MT.

3. Because ...
freeing delegates means they are free to support who they like. They are now like superdelegates. Most of them have said they will back Obama but at least one has said she will support Hillary. Most election tracker sites won't move them into either column until they have confirmation that they have gone one way or the other.

8. Interesting... that would mean Obama would only need
about 9% of the remaining superdelegates, plus expected totals in this week's elections, to get the nomination.

when I wondered if maybe the FL delegates should be split between Hillary, Obama and Edwards.

Meanwhile, Demcom watch says: "...By endorsing Obama, Edwards finally ended his campaign, which had been "suspended" up to now, and "released" his delegates...Edwards will of course...urge them to support Obama. But until these delegates...say who they will be supporting, they...(are)...essentially...uncommitted delegates. Which, essentially, makes them no different than superdelegates."

10. Of the 7 left
3 will be selected at Iowa's state convention by the state delegates, and it is quite likely that all 3 will be voted as pledged to Obama (as opposed to pledged to Edwards but switched to Obama). Assuming this happens only 4 delegates will remain pledged to Edwards, with 15 effectively having switched to Obama. Those 4 are free to switch or stay with supporting Edwards if they like.
