39. The way they are spinning this is:
They say that since the RNC is paying for the rallies, they can pick and choose who can be there. My thought is: then the RNC should pay for the trip, too since not all citizens are admitted and our tax payer dollars should not support it!

8. here are my notes from the segment
Story was their "Inside Report"

The camera opened on a huge crowd at a Kerry/Edwards rally. It was very impressive. :)

Then the camera contrasted this to buses pulling up in front of an auditorium. The voiceover went something like this:

When you go to a bush rally, you see friendly crowds and a beaming candidate and it's no accident: they pre-screen the people who are bussed in by the hundreds.

Video shows people of getting out of buses and campaign aides telling people they want to hear "lots of cheering for the president. " An aide goes around with water, saying we don't want any dry throats because we want you to cheer for the president. The people march in in neat little lines.

The report calls it "TV-friendly political stagecraft."

They then make the point that the pResident "makes no bones" about invited guests. The resident then makes some comment to Linda Chavez, who is sitting on a panel. The reporter says some of the questions are not even questions at all. A person in the audience says he wants to offer "three thank yous." bush says, "Thank you."

Then the report makes the point that rallies like this do not do anything to convince people who have not yet made up their minds. "If you only admit the faithful how do you convince voters who haven't made up their minds?" the reporter asks.

The video then shows Kerry and Edwards handling a couple hecklers. The reporter says, "This type of control means hecklers like at this Kerry Edwards rally are never seen."

The report concludes by saying, "It's all about getting the message out with no distractions."

6. I'll have to rely on other DUers descriptions.
I live in central Florida and all the local TV stations are giving hurricane coverage. The eye of Charley is about an hour away from me in Lakeland and is heading in my direction. I would like to know more about this CBS News report. Someone please fill me in.

Had some pretty good gusts and rain, a few small tree limbs down. The eye actually passed about 15 miles southeast of here going towards Kissimmee.

13. In Phoenix the other day
a member of the Kerry campaign staff was turned away from the boosh rally. Hubby saw it in the print edition of the AZ Republic; may be a link here somewhere.

She had no buttons, no campaign paraphernalia at all. Said she just wanted to see what he had to say. She was told only those who were going to vote for him would be allowed in.

14. They should have been reporting thi s since Day 1
and how about reporting on how audiences are asked to remove ties, don hard hats, etc.? And what about their efforts to portray their audiences as more diverse – placing blacks in prominent positions behind the chimp? How about the time even a video was altered, removing a man's white wife and replacing her with a black woman?

18. Boy in a Bubble
This is what happens when you surround yourself with sycophants. Is this unbelievable or what?

"I don't have a sense there's a lot of anger."

Boy is he in for a shock on election day.

Here is the quote in context (From interview with Larry King Live)

Bush also said he thinks the characterization of the American electorate as angry, uncivil and bitterly polarized is an overstatement, based on what he has seen traveling the country.

"I think there may be handfuls of people that are very emotional, but I think by far the vast majority of Americans are wanting to know whether they're going to be able to work and whether or not the government's doing its job of protecting the country," he said. "I don't have a sense there's a lot of anger."

- It's more than that...it's a fucking LIE. It's what Hitler used to do to make himself look like a 'man of the people' and more popular than he really was. But what else can this unelected fraud do? He can't appear in front of the general public like Kerry.

- Thanks for posting this. He's as phony as they come.

32. As Real as Springer
LOL-- this made me laugh out loud because it reminded me of a time a few years back when some neighbor ladies REALLY wanted to go to a taping of the Jerry Springer show, but were afraid to drive in Chicago. So, I agreed to be the driver. I was dumbfounded to find there was some stagehand guy who started all the chants and told us when to clap and boo. When the episode aired, there I was looking all confused and clapping out of sync, never looking forward, but anxiously watching the stagehand. Out of my element for sure... sounds just like a Bush campaign to me! *trash TV & trash politics*

What clever guys those Bushies are. What a clever strategy they got. Oh and somewhere far distant you may detect the slightest undertone of the fact that this is about as orwellian as it gets. But only slightly. Mainly, just: gosh, that's a pretty slick operation, huh? Pretty slick I'd say.

What are these mediasluts afraid of, anyway? It wasn't always like this. I swear to god it wasn't.
