I simply cannot WAIT to see the first time Obama unnerves McCain on stage during a debate.
There. I've said it. I want it worse than I wanted to kiss Laura Moshier in the 6th grade. Don't get me wrong, Laura was a hell of a looker. She's probably gone to pot without me in her life though, but it's nothing compared to what McCain is going to go through when he's up there on stage with Obama.

Obama's ability to give a thorough and articulate answer, even to an unfair question (as we have seen posed to him in some of the town halls and debates), is impressive. They will both be on stage answering questions about the economy, the Iraq war, general foreign policy, trade, etc. On most of these issues, McCain has happily ridden on Bush's coat tails- and he's covered in shit as proof. McCain is going to have a hard time defending those actions and beliefs- and Obama will be there, every answer tugging on a hook buried under McCain's skin that McCain himself put there by following Bush.

It's going to start heating that hoary old pressure-cooker and he's likely to make a angry remark or simply blow up at either Obama or the moderators which I pledge reproduce to every corner of God's green Earth.

Chapter Two: The perfect storm

While McCain can muster a certain variety of inner calm you can always tell he's actively expending a great deal of energy just to remain somewhat composed under pressure.

If you haven't seen him in action, check out this or this or, hell, just search in YouTube for McCain and "cursing","anger", or even "cool" (as in losing it). It's fabulous. And Obama knows this.

Now, Obama has been more than happy to enter into "unscripted" moments during the debates when accusations have been tossed his way. He is not shy about responding. And all of these things lead me to the uncontroversial conclusion that Obama will eat McCain's lunch right up there on stage- and make McCain look like an even bigger asshole while he's doing it.

Obama will exude (as he always does) a dignified air of quiet authority in the situation- he will appear presidential in every way.

Afterward, McCain will storm off the stage and beat whomever his wife hires to keep him from beating her. Neocons and hardcore conservatives will find not even alcohol can keep the foreboding visions of Election Day from their minds. Vanilla conservatives, and this part tickles me the most, are going to start talking about what an inept douche McCain appears to be and how that black dude makes more sense and doesn't have that "crazy" thing going for him like McCain does.

PB

I am so jingling my keys and thinking about you, John.

25. I can hear it now, but YOU have not been to Iraq in 2 years, YOU do not know what I KNOW, you, you
you! He cannot defend his gaffe's, he can only attack Obama as he did today, as his talking heads did today. They had nothing to say regarding his wrong Iraqi information, only Obama hasn't been there, he's not gone there, he's not been there, WAHHHH, McCain is a genuine American hero... I heard this all day, but Shuster should have at least shut one of them up with some facts... he didn't... it was pathetic.

I cannot wait to see Obama on the stage with Gramps... their IQ's must be fifty points apart and it shows.

8. You mean this letter?
The Honorable Barack Obama
United States Senate
SH-713
Washington, DC 20510

Dear Senator Obama:

I would like to apologize to you for assuming that your private assurances to me regarding your desire to cooperate in our efforts to negotiate bipartisan lobbying reform legislation were sincere. When you approached me and insisted that despite your leadership's preference to use the issue to gain a political advantage in the 2006 elections, you were personally committed to achieving a result that would reflect credit on the entire Senate and offer the country a better example of political leadership, I concluded your professed concern for the institution and the public interest was genuine and admirable. Thank you for disabusing me of such notions with your letter to me dated February 2, 2006, which explained your decision to withdraw from our bipartisan discussions. I'm embarrassed to admit that after all these years in politics I failed to interpret your previous assurances as typical rhetorical gloss routinely used in politics to make self-interested partisan posturing appear more noble. Again, sorry for the confusion, but please be assured I won't make the same mistake again.

As you know, the Majority Leader has asked Chairman Collins to hold hearings and mark up a bill for floor consideration in early March. I fully support such timely action and I am confident that, together with Senator Lieberman, the Committee on Governmental Affairs will report out a meaningful, bipartisan bill.

You commented in your letter about my "interest in creating a task force to further study" this issue, as if to suggest I support delaying the consideration of much-needed reforms rather than allowing the committees of jurisdiction to hold hearings on the matter. Nothing could be further from the truth. The timely findings of a bipartisan working group could be very helpful to the committee in formulating legislation that will be reported to the full Senate. Since you are new to the Senate, you may not be aware of the fact that I have always supported fully the regular committee and legislative process in the Senate, and routinely urge Committee Chairmen to hold hearings on important issues. In fact, I urged Senator Collins to schedule a hearing upon the Senate's return in January.

Furthermore, I have consistently maintained that any lobbying reform proposal be bipartisan. The bill Senators Joe Lieberman and Bill Nelson and I have introduced is evidence of that commitment as is my insistence that members of both parties be included in meetings to develop the legislation that will ultimately be considered on the Senate floor. As I explained in a recent letter to Senator Reid, and have publicly said many times, the American people do not see this as just a Republican problem or just a Democratic problem. They see it as yet another run-of-the-mill Washington scandal, and they expect it will generate just another round of partisan gamesmanship and posturing. Senator Lieberman and I, and many other members of this body, hope to exceed the public's low expectations. We view this as an opportunity to bring transparency and accountability to the Congress, and, most importantly, to show the public that both parties will work together to address our failings.

As I noted, I initially believed you shared that goal. But I understand how important the opportunity to lead your party's effort to exploit this issue must seem to a freshman Senator, and I hold no hard feelings over your earlier disingenuousness. Again, I have been around long enough to appreciate that in politics the public interest isn't always a priority for every one of us. Good luck to you, Senator.

Sincerely,

John McCain
United States Senate

19. "...please be assured I won't make the same mistake again." YES!
"Mr. McCain, you assured me in writing you would not dredge these depths after our discussions on lobbying reform..." (and so on and so on)

I know it won't happen- Barack will be much more subtle and, at once, more pointed in his remarks.

10. I'm postive there are Obama staffers who have been studying McCain
for months now. They know him intimately enough that they will know each and every button and the debate preparation will provide Obama with the code words.

Obama's responses will be smooth and innocuous. Meanwhile McCain will be seething each and every moment of each and every debate because every button that pushes his anger will be pressed by Obama.

I guarantee you, we WILL see McCain implode live on national television. It's even possible it will happen twice or even more times in the same debate.

The American people will have no clue why McCain loses it. Obama will be presidential, calm, cool, collected, and every picture fo a gentlemen while the old man yells at the clouds.

Trust me on this. Obama is one of the best Chicago politicians in history and politics is more of a contact sport in Chicago than the sport the Blackhawks play.

That's what Bill Clinton has against him
Don't get me wrong. In the 90's, Clinton was the master. HE was a politician's politician and played the game better than everybody else.

Obama makes Bill look like a rank amateur. There has never been a more natural born politician than Barack Obama, and he learned it on the mean streets of the South Side of Chicago.

I'll tell you something. You cannot be a man walking the streets of the South Side wihtout being tough.

49. Bill played the game - as dictated to him by Poppy Bush. BCCI matters didn't deep-six themselves
Democrats wre FOOLS for thinking Bill won office because of some great abilities he had. He got in because Jackson Stephens needed the cover of a Dem president to cover up for GHWBush, Stephens, Dubai and Saudi royals, Marc Rich and other powerful elite involved in BCCI's illegal operations.

Clinton did exactly what was expected of him by BushInc. Bush2 would never have been possible if Clinton was the GREAT President and political genius that many of you pretend he is.

To my knowledge, Nixon/Kennedy was mostly about appearances. Not only will we have that disparity with McCain and Obama it will be magnified by other things such as Obama's eloquence his demeanor and (to carry on the analogy for radio listeners) his content.

I guess that isn't surprising, but I'd imagined there was some bunker or abandoned salt mine you were holing up in until you got the all-clear. I suppose maybe you're in the bunker and that it has internet access so you may continue to spread...your unique and valuable view to the rest of the ungrateful world.

Either way, I'd rather he say "Uh" now and again while he pauses and thinks before giving a well thought-out answer than to just run off at the mouth like, well, like someone who's been having a few too many aboard their airplane with the press.

for McCain, just like they called it for Bush in 2000 because Gore sighed or rolled his eyes or something while Bush was saying totally stupid things. And no doubt the questions will be about as bright and insightful as they were during the Primary debates. But I trust that the public has wised up a little since then, and will be able to appreciate Obama for what he is, and see McCain for what he is.

Thanks for links to those vids - yowsa. Did you see this one?

McCain belittles Dolores Alfond
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-CazKanlYDg

Some background on what going on:
http://blog.barofintegrity.us/2008/02/01/dolores-apodaca-alfond-and-john-mccain.aspx

In looking up Dolores to find out who she was, I followed a few links to various veterans sites. Holy cow, I had no idea there were so many veterans (and relatives of) who hate the guy with a passion, or at the very least were disgusted with his stance on the MIA/POW issue. Can't say I blame them. I didn't realize it was common knowledge that he was a collaborator either. Whoa.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFM1xqqTX_g

Look for Sen Bob Smith, the man who was running the meeting where McCain blew up at Dolores Alfond. Also Rep Bob Dornan, who says

"...that in Hanoi, he {unknown} saw McCain turn red in the face - he even used the term 'Rumblestiltskin' - jumping up and down in place, in a rage, "If you release any of these records that you have here in Hanoi, on me or the other POWs, you will never get diplomatic recognition!"

I think if Obama really wants to go after the republican jugular he need not stop at McBush. A novel idea is to go after their talking head Rush Limbaugh(and others) and start cutting him down to size. If anyone can do it it Obama. Limbaugh represents the republican mindset yet the majority of his listeners are hard working , taking it on the chin, don't know any better individuals who have been brainwashed into thinking that getting your head handed to you is the american way.Go after Rush on his lies and propaganda and see if he can stand the heat. I think Rush is the head of the snake and you know what they say about killing the head.
