His lawyers would say what if they had a knife that they had found that they could put into evidence. They never said it was the murder weapon and they never said they would introduce it into the trial, only that they might. The press took it and ran with it, if they had the knife then they could prove him innocent, and they would probably wait and bring it in later in the trial. After it was all over one of the lawyers was asked about the knife and he admited that there never was a knife, that they had only said what if we said we have the knife. It is all done with mirrors folks.

Another thing, with the movies done now with special effects done on computers, how could anyone accept a film just on their say. I would always question it being chop-shopped. You can always place someones image in a place they never were, or hire a look alike to form an image to put in another place. I am jaded when it comes to believing everything I see.

The tape is supposed to be of Michelle in the church pulpit, which means the church (or someone who bought the church's tapes) would only have access to it.

Michelle admitted on CNN that she and Barack were "negotiating" with Wright... This could be part of what they were negotiating about. Just a thought.

It's a church with a congregation of thousands. There are probably dozens, if not hundreds of tapes of every service available. To think that a Republican could come up with one and keep it under wraps, while the Clintons (who were, until mere weeks ago highly regarded in the black community) couldn't is patent nonsense.

BTW - why would she be speaking from the pulpit? She's no preacher. She's a lawyer.

They plan and calculate, then exact. Dont be surprised. It would be best to think of a contingency plan. Just in case. I was talking with some friends who are for Mc'Cane'Cain this past weekend. Yes, I have friends from every party even green and libertarian etc, it's easy in this state, very diverse. But they were saying that they are not happy with Obama because of who he hangs around with. They cannot trust that he does not have the same views, even though he comes across as a humanist. They said he surrounds himself with racists. i mentioned the fact that many people of all different races have embraced him and his message, they countered but what if his message is false? and that you have to judge him by the friends he keeps because a politician rarely reveals who they truly are. But you know, I think about all my friends and obviously I have friends from every religion, race and political background, so how am I being judged? What friend could be used 'against me' if i were running or trying to make a point or campaign, etc? It just doesn't make sense to use that tactic unless all of the friends are united racists or crazy extreme. This will be an issue used against the democratic nominee and we have to think about how to approach it. I was able to look at my friends and laugh and exclaim, "why I'm hanging out with you! So would you call me a fan of the current president?" They closed their lips and nodded, understanding. But this will definitely be an issue they wont let go if she did say more controversial things on tape.

started smearing Bill Clinton again just in case the tape takes O out of the race. That is setting up the situation to weaken Hillary as the fallback nominee. Wouldn't it be nice of politics were just about the issues? :cry:

Obama has friends of all stripes - and to judge him on a couple of pastors who once made unwise comments, is unfair.

And lord knows I would never want to be judged on comments even I made, let alone any from my wacko friends, lol.

But politicians have to be extremely careful when it comes to this, especially their wives. Especially democratic candidates wives! Look at the history. They have to balance their political strength and the supportive wife role because we just will not accept a demure first lady; we like strength and civic-mindedness. Just look at how many admired Hillary for those traits. Of course, as a candidate this didn't sit very well. Maybe think Eleanor instead. But, regardless, we need to focus not necessarily on defending Michelle, as many have stated she can stand on her own, no problem, but to make sure the topic stays on topic--topics like the war and economy and lobbyists bleeding American citizens dry. It's good to keep in mind that people will judge anyway and we need a contingency plan if such is the case. And that is to stay on the issues that matter, no matter what! Eventually they will need to drop their judgments/distractions and face the real issues.

So many people base their vote on whether they like a candidate or not, hence the reason for smearing.

Many people cannot hold all the policy details in their heads.

He had too many white friends, then he was too black with too many black connections. You heard it all here. And if there was a tape of Michelle then, it would have been released then. But you know what, if there was a tape of her saying something angry about what white people had done to her, I would have to say so what. How many of us have gotten angry at someone and out of anger said something that we would not say other time: racist, sexist, classism, etc. I know I have. Then how many of us have told or laughed at jokes that are any one of those things. Here I am less apt to admit guilt, since I abhor such things. But my temper does get me into dark places sometimes. More in the past than now.

This tape really really exists, and yet it need not ever be played unless Obama is actually the nom, because if they play it once then it will immediately disappear into the same mystery dimension that lost socks and pens go to, and we will never hear of it again. I'm not saying she's totally bonkers, since I see quite a bit of intelligence and strength in her, but I definitely feel she can be a bit loopy at times.

No one in my experience has ever called any wife of a presidential nominee a "classy lady". This sounds like something you call someone defensively, as if you are expecting other people to say something about your friend like "She is just po' white trash" or "What do you expect? She grew up in a trailer park" or "Her parents didn't even finish college."

"Class" should be a non issue in Democratic politics.
