The rumor that the Republican Party has a tape of Michelle Obama railing against "whitey" in Rev. Jeremiah Wright's church apparently surfaced two weeks ago on No Quarter, a blog operated by Larry Johnson, a self-described former CIA analyst and supporter of Obama's Democratic presidential rival Hillary Clinton. No evidence has emerged to corroborate the wild rumor, but Fox News went ahead and aired the charges on camera today. The justification?

To get the perspective of admitted political smear artist Roger Stone. In a neat demonstration of the media echo chamber, Stone said he hadn't heard of the purported video, but now believes it exists because so many TV news networks have called to ask him about it.

Host Geraldo Rivera said he'd bet $100 against the rumor being true, but it doesn't matter: If the Republicans can keep everyone talking about the rumor through October, when Johnson's "Republican sources" say it will surface, the chatter will have, in and of itself, hurt Obama in the same significant way spurious rumors about him being Islamic delivered votes to Clinton.

That right-wing, Roger Ailes-operated Fox News is helping to facilitate this damage via national television should come as no surprise; the real test is whether the other networks will now follow suit and further whip up this corrosive, baseless rumor, simply because there's nothing else they want to talk about.



This is exactly what they're trying to do. It's a whisper campaign and it should be sold as much.

Sure wish I had a screen cap of it from when I first read that line.
I seem to remember the word "video" where "news" now resides.

Everyone should be able to see through this one. I believe it is being pushed by Hillary people to put a chill on superdelegates so they can steal Obama's spotlight on Tuesday night and deny him the chance to reach 2119 and claim victory there. Larry Johnson says it's been confirmed by 4 credible sources. The news networks are said to be looking for it (if you believe Stone). Limbaugh reported it as a rumor on his radio show.

Roger Stone said with Geraldo some news station has it. Unknown but his sources say. Today on Hannity he said that it's coming from the Clinton Camp and if it's a hoax she did it. Go to Larry Johnson and he says it's GOP. They each have a multitude of sources who heard about the tape but never saw it. Too many statements I can't keep up and won't try to keep up.

A lot of Clinton supporters who think the tape is real and who are promoting...some of them are not. These people are being played for a fool because Obama is not the only one who gets hurt.

The Clinton Camp, right out of Roger Stone's mouth, has been accused as to having this tape and promoting it. If this makes it to news and is a hoax, Roger Stone just said publickly on Hannity's radio show, that Clinton is to blame and she gets bashed for it. Secondly, if it's not a hoax, she will be accused of manipulating the vote by dropping hints here and there to build momentum.<----It won't be looked at the saving grace. Because if the video doesn't come out this week...and waits to Election she's screwed. What happens? McCain gets nomination. In the end the Larry Johnson who supposedly supports Clinton, screwed her and her voters---plus the tape if it's real, which is completely unlikely, just screwed Obama.

This is why I don't understand why the Clinton camp, as a whole (since I said it wasn't all), turn away from this crap. It's not hurting just Obama or just Clinton, it's hurting the entire Democractic party.

65. I guess you weren't here yesterday.
They were being deleted over and over. It was a spam spray. I have at least three hidden threads that spammed all at once to make her VP. They are posting here. I've spent some time reading the delusional hate Obama site, and it has left me angry all day. I'm not in the mood to forgive any of them right now. Clinton has not done a DAMN THING to abort this disgrace. I'm not ready to make nice. Nowhere near.

I've visited their site and I've seen the spams done here. However, this is not one sided. Although I have seen it leaning on one side more than another.
