push poLL Lies in minnesota
this is apparentLy from the kerry bLog, but i copied it from http://alfrankenweb.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=158547#158547

peopLe need to know this is happening again.

"Got a call from the Bush-Cheney campaign today. Their questions: can Bush count on your support? Are you pro-choice, pro-life or something else? Did you know Kerry's economic plan will mean higher taxes?....I'd heard enough with that question!

I let this young caller know that I didn't appreciate the lies and over-simplification that he was spreading through his calling.

Minnesotans need to unite against these distortions. We will unite for Kerry. His call made me want to work harder and be bolder in my support of Kerry. Bet that wasn't his intended outcome."

2. Turn out for dem caucus here ...
The turnout for the Democratic caucuses in my district were huge due to a lot of first time voters showing up - to the primary. So many wanted to be delegates, there were special "How to be a delegate" sessions.

I saw so much enthusiasm from new voters, I'm not worried about MN at all. Just my 2¢.

3. I did push polling for Republicans in '96
I was in my first year of college and got this job doing telephone polls and a little bit of telemarketing. They never told us who their clients were, and it was a couple months before it became obvious that they only did work for Republicans.

They did some nasty stuff. The fist push poll was about a referendum to open up the Florida Everglades to more sugar farmers and development. I didn't understand the issue, but if I knew then what I know now I would have quit on the spot. We asked where people stood on the issue, but most of the poll was spewing out lies about the issue.

Also, right before the election we did calls to California saying Bob Dole supported proposition 86. That was the strongly anti-immigrant proposition that denied legal and illegal immigrants basic rights. It was ugly. Many of the people we called obviously spoke with Spanish accents so I'm not sure it worked out to well for him.

There were some upsides. I was able to hear how bad things were going for Republicans that year, and I called people to show up to Chico, CA where Dole fell off the stage.
