How badly does GWB need to f*up in front of the camera before
Edited on Sun Aug-15-04 05:23 PM by BleedingHeartPatriot
ONE, just ONE onsite "journalist" says, "You know, the president sounds like he's confused. He doesn't seem to know what he's talking about. He just keeps repeating the same thing over and over."

His inability to string together coherent sentences when he is unscripted, his level of self admitted illiteracy and his obvious lack of understanding around complex and important domestic and foreign issues continues unabated, without any cogent observation of such from the mainstream media.

What will it take before his clearly apparent and worrisome cognitive flaws are finally remarked upon by members of the media?

1. I don't think we will ever see it.
I am actually very worried about the debates. I thought Gore was going to clean the floor with him and it seemed like they never made * answer anything. They always let him lie and they never follow up. (Except Helen Thomas who they ignore.) I am confident in Kerry's intellect but I am really worried about the debates.

4. of course.... no matter WHAT happens, the media will ignore
dumbo's inability/refusal to answer questions, his myriad LIES, and concentrate, instead on Kerry's wooden, suprecilious manner

and, if Kerry flubs, you can be SURE that THIS will be the exclusive topic of discussion, just as was Gore's SIGHING in disgust at the ludicrous nature of his opponent's halfwitted responses

I really think it's almost to his advantage if the debates DON'T happen:

he should make some VERY tough demands, and force the chimp to chicken out

I can't imagine a scenario, except an unforseen convention bounce, that would put Kerry in a position to NEED the debates.

the pugs are DEFINITELY running scared

they're getting TOO vicious TOO early, don't you think?

12. Personally I loved Gore's sighing
He must have been thinking "I can't believe I have to have a conversation about critical issues with this clown" (Kind of like what I think Obama is thinking about Keyes.)

They are running scared. Did you see him on Larry King when King asked him about the debates and he kept saying "yeah there will be debates" And King kept saying that the Kerry campaign already signed onto 3 debates and he hadn't. He kept saying "will you sign on for 3" and Bush kept ignoring him. Finally Larry said "sign on for the debates"

2. Maybe if he THROWS UP, like his daddy did, or faints, or
starts talking in tongues, as was alleged in some post linked here a month or so back (don't think it was capitol blue, but it could be)

how much coverage of his renaming the WOT did you see?

or the sovereignty gaffe?

except on Daily Show, of course

I'm not sure what the karmic debt is for calling it a "rotating job".

So, here is the large size, you're going to need it.

3. He could show up sloppy drunk
To a press conference and no one would say a word because they don't want to louse their high paying job.
That is just an unfortunate fact.

8. sadly, I agree. I used think it would just be a matter of time for his
blatant ignorance to come shining through, forcing some sort of acknowledgment from media types. However, I'm thinking he can do or say anything, short of mooning the audience, with impunity. Even then, the media would probably chuckle at the "playful baring of the presidential buttocks, adding levity to a normally serious discussion." MKJ

10. Been waitin' almost 4 years -- used to email reporters...
especially after Bush appearances with foreign leaders, asking if the STORY wasn't that Bush didn't know what he was talking about and sounded like something was seriously wrong with him (in contrast to the foreign leader with whom he'd just met). Got no responses.

if Kerry somehow builds an insurmountable lead, and it's obvious that, barring some unforseen MIHOP occurrence, dimbulb has NO chance

then, the cowherds (cowards?) will close ranks against the cheesychimp

but, what fun will THAT be?

I could live with it

15. David Cross suggests
that Bush could kill and eat a jewish baby on national tv and people still wouldn't realize how fucked up he is because they would just raise the terra alert.

From his latest CD, "It's not funny."

But I like it just as much.

He REALLY runs Bush and the neo-cons hard in this one, so by that standard it's a lot better.

20. LOL, sometimes you just have to laugh....
until he goes on a drunken (or dry drunk) rant, and tells the media to f* themselves, I think you're right. I used to believe that an ability to speak extemporaneously was a job requirement for POTUS, however, the only requirement now seems to be how much the media lets you get away with. MKJ

21. just now on CNBC...
I was looking for the Olympics but was temporarily pleasantly surprised to see a clip of Cheney's lies about Kerry's "sensitive" remark, followed by a clip of Bush using the word "sensitivity" in a similar context, AND followed by Kerry's then making his own response. Can it be that finally we have "fair and balanced"? Alas, they then turned to a talking head from Time Magazine who opined that Kerry puts his foot in his mouth too often--this even after CNBC had JUST showed Bush using the SAME words as Kerry!!! I didn't wait around to hear the rest of that crap.

23. thanks for the responses and perceptive observations...
I'm so glad there are other people who see the outrage of the media ignoring the obvious. After seeing Clinton trashed by the SAME media for "it depends on what the definition of "is" is", it has been quite unnerving to see the current WH occupant given a pass in spite of his willful ignorance and substandard ability to speak coherently.
